Military Discount

I called today and was told that there aren't any more spots with the discount available for our trip in Oct. But they did say to keep calling and trying, so maybe they will open up some more.

I too called and said I would have to change my 'preferred' site to a 'premium' site, in order to get the discount. The only problem being, the premiums are futher away. Also, my husband is only a four year retired vet. He does have a card to go to the VA hospital.....not disabled. Anyways, is he still eligible for the discount? Thanks in advance.

You have to have a valid military ID, retired or active. The VA card doesn't count as far as I have been told. If he still holds an ID you should be all set. Don't forget about the deal on the tickets too.

Okay, thanks, and yes I know about the great discount on the tickets. It'll put a few extra $'s in our pockets. It's a great deal!!!

More money that you can spend in the parks!:) That's my theory anyway.:lmao: Disney had offered this deal on the tickets back in 2002, I thought it was great then, and was so excited when I heard they were doing it again this year. Not that I need any reason to go back, but this helps.

ok, just called and got the 40% discount but we had to upgrade to a premium site instead of prefered. So, after everything is said and done, we are paying 487.00 for TWO WEEKS!!!! Woohoooo.....nice to see that you get something for giving up 20 years in the service!!! :thumbsup2

We upgraded to a premium site and did recieve the 40% discount. Our dates are Aug29-Sept5th. The total was 340.27 which breaks down to $48.61/night. This is including tax!

has anyone picked up the free ticket yet?

OK, so we called and changed our dates from 11/28 to 11/15. Still staying 6 nights and we got the military discount. Total was $295.70:woohoo: :woohoo: When I first got through the CM told me I couldn't have the military discount on campsites. I said oh yes I can and he tried it. Sure enough it worked. He said he wished he'd been told earlier because he had told 2 other people no. I hope people calling in that get told no have them double check. I do know there are limited numbers but it's so worth it to insist. It's 40% cheaper.

Hi all,

I just called to "get" the discount, and no PIXIE DUST. I spoke to Nina in RSVP and she had no knowledge of the MYV code, but she tried anyway. Nothing came up, so she called Guest Services (read higher up the food chain). She came back and said " that there was no such code for the campsites". She then offered to connect me to the Guest Services (and she did) and I spoke to Arnie. He tried several ways to secure/find the code for the campground. NOTHING. He stated that if there was such a code, he would have been able to find it, and that he had no reason to lie about it. Oh well, I guess pixie dust once a year is good enough.

I am going over Memorial Day Weekend, actually May 21-27. I had seen some information on one of WDW websites that said the military discount was not applicable during the holiday weekend. I called back today to see if I could apply the discount during the other days I am there outside of the weekend (which I think in Disney Calendar was 22-25 May) but the agent on the phone just said that the discount wasn't available at that time. She spoke very broken English, and it was hard for me to understand her reasoning when I asked her why. Disappointing. I may call back and try to get a different agent.

Just called back again. I got an English speaking agent this time. He was insistent on the fact that the military discount DOES NOT apply to campsites. He said it only applies to cabins. I told him that I "know" other people who have recieved the discounts on campsites and he told me he could not tell me why. I am pretty ticked to be honest. If he could give me a better reason other than it "doesn't apply to campsites" then maybe I could understand. Like the dates aren't eligible, or even that they offered that discount up until yesterday. But to know that other people on here are getting a discount on campsites and these a%$h0$#s aren't able to explain to me why really aggravates me. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Bob

I know it's a pain..but I'd call back. We had to get a premium site to get the discount..but it was worth it to us. I'd just call back until you get the answer you want...apparently some will and some won't. But I think everyone who got it had to get the premium site.

I have been booked for a premium site from the beginning. So I shouldn't have to change anything.

I get really frustrated with all the different answers.:confused3 If you call again and tell them to look up Walt Disney World Salutes the Men and Women Who Serve. It's on the WDW web site. I know the number of sites are limited but they do apply. I was almost rude when I called. I said I know it applies and to please check anyway. When the person checked he was surprised and apologetic. I do know if you are trying to go after Thanksgiving the allocated spots are gone. However, sometimes people cancel. Good Luck !!

I would not be surprised if all of the allocated sites for the discount are booked, seeing as how we just booked yesterday for a trip in May. If that is the case, and that is what the agent told me, fine. My problem is that the guy couldn't, or wouldn't tell me that. He just said "the discount doesn't apply to campsites," which I know is BS.

When I called the woman I talked to said that any site could get it, not just premium, however during our dates the available discounts were gone. We are going Oct. 23-Nov. 2 and she said there was nothing available for the discount in any level. Bummer, but I was able to get AAA on the premium, which brought me down to the cost of a full, so I'll take it.:thumbsup2

bump. I believe our military folk deserve this discount. :thumbsup2
