Anyone know what kind of discount retired military can receive on WDW tickets? The WDW site has a promotion for 4 day tickets, but we need at least 6 days.

I am not military, but my family of 4 has invited a retired military family of 3 to join us in our minivan as we drive from Ohio to WDW this April. (Both the mom + dad retired from the Army) We'll all most likely book the POP. (They will want the Disney Dining Plan for lots of character dining, so I think Shades of Green is out?) They've never been to WDW, but it's been a dream for them since their daughter was born 7 years ago!

I think they should book a military discount for their room through the WDW website.

The deeply discounted 4 day tix look great, but for their first trip I think they'll want more park days. Can they get any other ticket discount??

Suggestions welcome!

Definitely they should use the military discount (if available) for booking their room. Tickets are discounted for military and can be purchased at Shades of Green--there is no tax. If they are interested in the water parks and Disney Quest, they can get the Stars & Stripes ticket which includes water parks and Disney Quest for the length of ticket purchased. Ticket prices shown here: http://www.shadesofgreen.org/ATT.htm

When using the current military room discount, they can still get the dining plan at regular price.

I would check out www.shadesofgreen.org for information about military ticketing. If staying on property (not necessarily at SoG) the Stars & Stripes tickets can be purchased. Discounted MYW tickets are available at all MWR/ITT offices, but some may have to order specific ticket, check with them on pricing. And for detailed information about the Armed Forces Salute tickets If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

For 2 adults and 1 child if they bought just straight 6 day park hopper with water park options it would cost $1121.46.

For 2 adults and 1 child if they bought the 4 day military tickets with park hopper and water park options, PLUS regular 2 day tickets with park hopper and water park options it would cost $1353.96

For 2 adults and 1 child if they bought two sets of the 4 day military tickets with park hopper and water park options it would cost $1104.00

Now if you remove the water parks and/or the park hoppers from any of these equations it would reduce the cost. My opinion would be the best option would be as follows:

two sets of military tickets. One WITH park hopper and water park, one WITHOUT park hopper and water park. That would cost $1020.00

All in all, adding that two days almost DOUBLES the cost of the tickets. If it were me, I'd do the 4 days at Disney for $552, and then hop on over to Universal for my 3 day FREE military tickets.

you have to call disney for military discounts on hotels and they often sell out for prime dates (just like all other disney discounts they are limited to so many rooms). As for the 4 day tickets you can always add the water park and more option and go to the water parks for the extra two days. Since they are both military they can buy up to 12 tickets (per member), but buying 2 military tickets for one person doesn't save any money over an 8 day regular disney ticket. I would just do the 4 day with water parks myself, but I love water parks! If money is no object undercover tourist will have the best/safest ticket prices, or you can buy slightly discounted military tickets at shades of green. No dining plan if staying at shades of green. The little girl would love the royal rooms at Port Orleans

Are you sure this is correct!!! We have only been able to get 6 (4 day tickets) per military member. Hopefully Cheshire Figment will read this post and clarify.

I worded it wrong each retired member can buy 6 So moms 6 plus dads 6 is 12 total tickets assuming each retired as was stated in the first post.

That's pretty much what we're doing. We're doing 4 days at Disney, then spending a day at Universal. Since DH's ticket is free, it will only cost us $82 to get a one day ticket for me.

Before we made that decision, we were going to add the WP&M option, and go to a water park on our extra day.

I guess it depends on them. We've been enough that while it's painful to only plan on 4 days in the parks for an 8 day trip, I know we'll be able to fit in quite a bit during that amount of time, and the extra down time should be nice.

They can get the special military deeply discounted Disney tickets with 4 park days and 4 water parks and more days. That would give them Disney Quest and the two water parks. ;)
