I apologize in advance, because I know this has been asked before :( My DH and I will be at Disney next month - we already have 7 day PHs. However, my stepson and his girlfriend are going to meet us for 4 days. Can we purchase the military tickets for them even though we won't be buying any for us? We'll be at the parks with them so wasn't sure if that met the being present to activate provision.

Thank you! (Again, sorry for the duplicate).

this should work, as long as you or hubby are there to activate them

My parents buy MD PH's for myself and my son (7) whenever we go. As long as the person with the military ID is there at ticket activation, it's no problem.

THis might seem strange to ask but I would rather get a general concensus about it before I head to Orlando than after I'm there. My husband is retired and I have a dependent (Spouse) ID Card...however I just noticed it has been expired for a while....errrh..long while...we don't live near any military bases so its so seldom in the last 10 years to even have thought about it to go and get it re-newed. So the question is, my retired military spouse will not be going to Orlando with me just my grandchildren who are 7 and 10 and I plan to purchase the military salute tickets....will my outdated (expired) ID card affect the purchase and activation or is it just certain boxes they are instructed to look at. I don't actually have time to get my ID card re-newed before the trip :cool1: and I really don't want to disappoint my grandchildren. Any thoughts....maybe from the person that works at Disney's entrance....Thanks.

I believe they require it to be current. I would get it renewed to be safe.

Yes, it will need to be current--mine was two weeks from expiring when I activated my last ticket and the CM made a point of telling me I wouldn't be able to activate any more tickets after it expired.

Any branch at any guard or active base can renew the ID for you. While I can't speak for the other branches, at the AF bases you will need your spouse, his DD214 (only if his ID is also expired, or he is not with you), and two other forms of government-issued ID (passport, current driver's license, birth certificate, SS card, etc.) since yours is expired. While your marriage license should not be necessary because you're obviously already in DEERS, I'd bring it along, too. Nothing worse than getting the new kid at MPF who doesn't realize you don't need to show it when you're already in DEERS.

You will go to the Visitor's Center and receive a 30 minute pass, at which point you go straight to MPF to renew the ID(s). If your spouse is unable to go with you, you will need all of the above documents plus a power of attorney that specifically gives you the ability to sign for/receive a military ID in his absence. You can call the base legal department ahead of time to determine the exact wording necessary (some will fax or email you the specific document they use for you to have notarized elsewhere) to make sure you won't have any trouble at MPF.

Once that is done, you can actually go to the base ticket office and order the tickets from them (assuming it's an active base, or a large guard base). They'll be able to ship them to you via USPS or FedEx if they don't have them in stock (probably won't, unless the base is in Florida).

The entire process of renewing an expired ID is time-consuming, but fairly simple.
