Military discount on tickets?

Ok now you got me wondering. Is the ticket office at SOG only open certain hours? We were just going to go buy the tickets at SOG on the way to ASMo. It might be 6pm or it might be 10pm when we get there. I never thought about them being closed.

Yes, they do have specific hours, that is why I was so mad at our local MWR office, we had to change our plans so that we could arrive at SoG before the ticket office closed.

There is a phone number on their website with a recording of the hours for each day. It was a bit of a hassle to go over there too, since we weren't staying there. I don't know what we will do next time. As of right now, we don't have a trip planned.

We luckily have had a difference experience with our MWR. We just went to our MWR office today and purchased the 4 day, $138.00 tickets. Instead of us having to wait in line and wait for the ticket office to open at SOG on our first day there, we were able to order them and pay an extra $10.oo Fed Ex delivery fee. They will be delivered to our MWR within 14 buisness days so we will have them in hand when we get to SOG.

We were at the last minute purchasing them because we had to wait for DH to get his ID card, because he was re-enlisting (Active Reserves) after a 5 years hiatus. They never even offered to order them for us. I don't know if I will bother with them again or not, seems like I can find better deals myself, and their hours aren't really convenient for those with full-time 8-5 jobs.

Yes, you can only buy 6 tickets unless the service member's immediate family (spouse + kids) is greater than the 6 allowed tickets.

We have done the military Stars and Stripes package every year since it's come out and this year we just decided to get annuals!

I don't think there's a limit to the amount of Stars and Stripes tickets you can buy. It's the military Salute tickets that have a limit of 6. The Salutes are the $138/$168 ones. You do have to be staying on site to buy Stars and Stripes tickets, they've asked us what resort every time I've purchased them. They usually ask to see room keys, or if I haven't checked in yet, they ask which resort.

Whoa! I never knew there were two different military packages going on! Well I knew there was the hopper/water option and then regular tickets but not that they both have the promotional names used in the past. I was thinking of the military Salute tickets when I said there was a limit of 6 tickets.

According to the Disboards the Stars and Stripes package has a limit to 5 tickets (http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-military.htm)

The website does say you have to to be staying on Disney property. I have always bought the promotional tickets they offered that year ($99 tickets) but I know the base I am at you can buy both the magic your way type tickets as well as the Military Salute hopper tickets.

There are three different types of military discount tickets available.

Armed Forces Salute are the $138/$168 tickets. These may be purchased at SoG, MWR/ITT, or Park ticket or Guest Relations Windows. If purchased at SoG or MWR/ITT they must be activated at a Park ticket or Guest Relations window.

Stars & Stripes is available only at SoG and is tied to your current visit and length of stay.

Discounted MYW tickets are available at SoG and MWR/ITT offices. They do not require activation.
