Hello peeps again

How long in time and mileage do you think it will take to get from:

I Drive - Orlando to Windley Key

then

Windley Key to Miami Airport

On the way to the Keys we want to stop off at the Everlgades do you think that is feasible. Oh by the way this is by car is case you were wondering

Cheers again

hugs

T;)

Hi Tracey :) - its approximately a 300 mile trip ...... it takes at least 4 hours to get to Miami, and I'd recommend the Florida Turnpike for this - but then I don't know how much to add on from Miami to the Windley Key, except the Virign brochure says it's 65 miles.
Stopping off at the Everglades ..... hmmm..... since it is a large area, I suppose you could take the Tamiami Trail - US41 - which crosses the state from Miami to Naples and there is an entrance to the Everglades National Park there - Coopertown is the centre for airboat rides and the Miccosukee Indian Village has craft demonstrations (I'm pretty sure Janice has visited the Village).
I do not find the Tamiami Trail itself that interesting and I don't think I'd want to add this onto what is already a long trip, but that s only my opinion. That Turnpike will get you there quickest but it is such a straight flat road!
If it's an airboat ride you'd like you can get the Boggy Creek rides in Orlando and people seem to enjoy these.

Hi Tracy - I agree with Shirley to take the Florida Turnpike straight out of Orlando dwn to Miami, then to Homestead (entry way town to the Keys) then straight onto the Keys. Windley Key is only about 15 mins max from Homestead so all in all your journey should take around 4-4.5 hours.

With regards the Everglades trip, why not do it from Windley? It's only about an hour's drive back to them and there's so much to choose from.

I'll be responding to your other questions on my thread about the Keys, but if it were us, I think I'd do they Everglades from the Keys rather than stopping on the way down:)
