I have a small Mildew Stain on my carpet where the carpet meets the tile by the master bath. The caulk in the shower had come loose and we didn't realized and water ran down and made a small mildew stain on the carpet before we realized what was going on.

Any ideas on how to get the stain out of the carpet?

The following is from www.GoodHousekeeping.com - good luck!

Carpet

If there are mildew stains on the surface of the carpet, you must be careful not to add any more moisture to the area.

1. Vacuum the surface to draw out as much of the mildew as possible. Afterward, replace the vacuum-cleaner bag or remove the canister and clean outside.

2. Vigorously mix one tablespoon liquid laundry detergent and two cups cool water to create a froth of suds.

3. Using a damp cloth, apply the suds to the stained area. Sponge gently. Repeat until the stain disappears.

4. Rinse.

5. Thoroughly dry the area.

Thanks! Have you tried this? Do you know if it works?

Sorry, I haven't had the problem on carpet, so I didn't use that method. My mildew problem was on louvered bathroom doors and I used a product called NAS-12 from www.natallergy.com. I wasn't sure that this product would be safe on a carpet or fabric, so I found the Good Housekeeping method for you.

Stay away from products meant to remove mildew on hard surfaces (such as grout) because they will most likely bleach your carpet.
