MIL is Terminal, Wants to go to Disney

This is OT!

If you are going to drive into Disney, apply now for a temporary handicap plate for your car with your state. It will need a doctors note but you will at least be able to park closer to the gate. If you decide to push her in a wheelchair or use a scooter, I would suggest renting it off site so she has access to it all the time.

I don't know how much energy she has but try to conserve as much as possible so she enjoys herself. I'm saying a prayer for you now. We lost my MIL a year ago to cancer. Our memories are now priceless!

I want to Thank everyone for all thoughts and advice.. Her Melanoma is in several spots Thanks to those who posted about Her hearts wish and all sites like this. We don't want freebies but just great advice from those in the Know. Thanks again and keep it coming.

OP, I'm so sorry about your mother. I think you've been given some really good advice so far.

Hopefully wait for free dining, go in the end of August. Or, if you wish to go right away. Get two rooms, at a value resort with the current promotion. That Disney is running. Your tickets will be included. I am sorry to hear about your MIL. I will keep your family in my thoughts, and prayers.

I don't think waiting until August would be the best idea...time is short.

I am so sorry about your MIL, as you know i lost my Dear Sandi due to a Brain Tumor, GBM 4, her last trip was in 06, they did give her front of the line, no wait, i really suggest to go before it gets too hot, i really don't know how my Sandi stood the June heat on our trip, i guess she was determined to push herself.
Now i sit back, because we did not realize that she would leave us so soon after that, but i thank god everyday that we took that last trip w/ her. I have lots of Great Memories and Pics of that trip.
I, know it's hard right now, and trust me if i could win the lottery, i would treat your family to the very Best of Disnsey, try to stay on site, we got a house that trip, and it was too much on her having to travel back and forth, when if you are on site, it's easier for her to go back to the resort to rest.
I Pray dearly for her and your family, because it is a Monster, i will never ever get over this.:grouphug:

I'm sorry, I haven't read the whole thread but there is a DISer named Tina who rents her fifth wheel camper out. I think it's $100 a day plus you pay for your campsite. They include everything-linens etc., take it to the campsite, park it and set it all up.

You can probably get a campsite at Fort Wilderness for around $60 a night. The camper sleeps 8 I think? plus it has an awning and you can have one additional tent on site. I think the address is www.campatthefort.com but you could post a message for her on the camping board too.

I'm sorry about your MIL and you are all in our prayers

I'm so sorry. My FIL also has Melanoma, so I can empathize.

We own DVC and are planning to rent some points. Just haven't put them up yet. If we can be of any help, send me a PM. And yes, 8 people will fit in a 2 bedroom villa.
