in light of all the talk about Mission Space and getting sick or not getting sick...there is a warning before the ride that if you suffer from Migraines, you should not ride...my DH gets horrible migraines but did not heed this warning...before we could even make it to Test Track, he was hit with a bad one...normally, rides do not make him nasuous and he can ride just about anything...that is why he did not take the warning seriously...just thought we would let everyone know...

Sorry your DH had trouble. I also get migraines and often get nauseous from certain rides, but MS didn't bother me at all.

I think it depends on your triggers. Mine are typically visual -- motion that is out of synch (even slightly) with what I'm seeing. Things like first-person video games and point-of-view shakey camera work are typically what get me.

I think I was fine because the visuals and motion are SO well done in MS.

I suffer from migraines too, but I did not have any trouble with this ride. I have migraines so bad that I end up in the ER on pain killer IV's sometimes. Trust me when I say that I get them BAD. But, I feel rougher after riding Space Mountain and RnR than I did after doing M:S.

I was prepared to deal with nausea or whatever consequences that I had to suffer for riding M:S. Luckily, I was fine. Actually, I was more like.....what the heck is so bad about the ride. It was too short. lol

I am sorry that your DH had such a bad experience, but not everyone will have that problem.....thank God. Maggie

I have major migraine problem. No problem at all with this ride. My daughter and I rode this ride 3 times in a row... and absolutely no migraine.

I also didn't have a problem on this ride with migraines. One trigger for me is being jolted around, so Space Mt could set me off, along with other jerky coasters. After a day at an amusement park I usually have a headache, but it's a small price to pay for a day of fun (small price because I have meds that I carry with me at all times that knock it out if taken soon enough--as long as I'm not the one driving home).

Same here...the coasters are what gives it to me... I take my Imitrex prior to going into the parks...

Thanks for this warning. I've avoided MS because of the motion sickness potential for me, but there is no way now I would risk one of those horrific headaches because of any ride. I've not had many, but I've ended up needing medical treatment each time. Not worth it. The meds give me a hangover for days following an episode. I appreciate your post and hope your husband was able to recooperate and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Mission Space didn't bother me, (I think, rode it in April, went back in June and DD7 chickened out that time so I sat out). What seemed toreally get me was BTM in the MK. I guess the jerking is one of my triggers. I was sick as a dog after riding the Mindbender at 6 Flags over GA. I may think twice about RnRC then.

My DH--as these boards know too well from other posts in the past--is a major migraine sufferer. (In fact, he went to Urgentcare last night for an Imitrix shot). He rode MS with absolutely no problem---headache or motion sickness-wise. BUT, I have to admit that his "partner" in MS (not me! I'm way to prone to motion sickness to try it!) DID need the vomit bag!

If jerking is indeed a trigger, I wouldn't hesitate to ride RnRC. It's a VERY smooth coaster. It's fast, but smooth. Even the takeoff is smooth, it just looks scary!

I've ridden tons of coasters and can honestly say RnRC is the smoothest one I've ever been on. Just keep your head back and hold on!

I have major migraine problem that I take medication when I get them. No problem at all with this ride. I rode this ride 2 times in a row... and absolutely no migraine. I also get them from jerking motions, but none here.

I too suffer from migraines. Luckily for me I only seem to be hit once or twice a year. Unluckily for me, when I do have one they hit hard............my vision blurs, paralysis in my one arm, vomiting. I have to shut myself in a dark room with no sound. Light and sound are just unbearable. They usually last 2-3 days.

But also luckily for me, Mission Space did not trigger a migraine!

I feel for your husband, and am sorry that the ride did affect him. I would not wish a migraine on anyone.

So I'm not the only one who pops Imitrex with breakfast at WDW? Which reminds me, I need to get my prescription filled this week. Mission Space didn't bother me, but I see how it could. RnR does.

Imitrex doesn't make you sleepy? I take Maxalt, which makes me sleepy unless I've had a string of migraines and my body has adjusted. The sleepiness is great at night, but I prefer not to take it during the day. Sleepiness does beat a headache, though!

No, it makes me "tingley" from head to toe about half an hour after I take it. I try not to take one if I'll be driving in the next few hours. It's amazing stuff, though. I could do a commercial.

I'll ask my dr about Imitrex. It's not that the Maxalt doesn't work (it does), but I don't like the tired feeling during the day.

Well, I don't do well with motion and I get headaches easily. Luckily after MS, I was prepared. Took some Motrin at the drinking fountain immediately, followed up with a mickey bar, and sat on the comfy cushions in the little kids play space where the ride exits. It's relatively dark in there. Within 45 minutes, I was good to go! I was proud I didn't need the bag. Wasn't so sure I'd succeed until I downed that mickey bar tho.

Chocolate is a big trigger for me, so one Mickey Bar would most likely given me a good headache. Eat a Mickey bar for me!

BEWARE!!!!
Do not mix Maxalt and Imitrex! I hope that your doctor will tell you that. Just make sure that you haven't taken Maxalt for a few days before you take Imitrex. Or visa versa. You could have major heart problems. Imitrex is amazing sutff. There is nothing worse then a bad migraine! The imitrex pills do nothing for me but the shots are amazing. They make you feel like your head is on fire (goes away in a few min.), but that is SOOO much better then the migraine. The makers of Imitrex should win the nobel prize! I would recommened Imitrex to any Migraine sufferer. Maxalt did not do anything for me but, like you said, made me tired. Imitrex does take some getting used to though. The pills work for some. I think the shots work for all. They also have a sniff type to. Just sniff it up your nose. Good luck to anyone with Migraines

I wouldn't mix the Maxalt and Imitrex. I didn't know that I should wait several days, though, before switching. Sometimes I don't go several days without a headache.

My DD tried the Imitrex and it didn't seem to help her. The Maxalt helps usually, but makes her VERY sleepy.
