My 5 1/2 yr son hurt his foot (Sever's Disease, sounds dramatic but isn't) and the doctor says he should be better soon, but we leave for DL in 2 1/2 weeks! :earseek: I was thinking that we may wind up renting a wheelchair; can I do that at DL? Where? Any idea of how much? Thanks in advance! :sad2:

You can rent them right at the maingate. I believe the push ones are $8 a day and electic are $35. They both have a $20 deposit.

Thanks so much! I think the push ones will work out fine, hopefully we won't have to rent one at all! Thanks again for the info.

The power ones are called ECVs (they are not exactly electric wheelchairs) and they aren't rented for use by anyone under 18.

I don't know about Disneyland, but WDW has a very limited number of smaller (pediatric) wheelchairs for rent. The regular adult wheelchairs are rather large for a 5 yr old.

I'll be going in August -- and may have to rent one for my sister - recovering from having her spleen removed (Surgery is scheduled for this Monday 07/18). :wizard:

Do they ever run out of wheelchairs and can you keep the same chair going between DL & DCA?

You keep the same chair when you go from park to park. Also, if you rent it at one park, you can return it to the other. You don't have to return it to the park you rented it from.

For the 5 1/2 year old, will he be more comfortable in a stroller. My 6 1/2 year old will still get one every once in awile if we're there long hours. Also if you have a disney visa (I think that was it, maybe it was DVC members) you get free stroller rental. They cost the same as the wheelchair.

You can go back and forth from park to park no problems. They do have a limited number and do run out, less often on weekdays, but there is no guarentee.

If you're staying at one of the DL hotels you can rent a wheelchair for the length of stay for 10 per day. These must stay at the DLR resort, but you can take them throughout the whole resort (dtd, parks, and hotels). No depost, but a 300 replacement cost. These also can not be reserved, but if you contact guest services and they don't have the non electric ones they will get you one from one of the parks for the length of stay.
