Might be a dumb question but can you buy the refillable mugs?

I am going in December and was wondering if you can buy the refillable mugs? I will not be on the dining plan but would love to get the mugs. Thanks in Advance!

The mugs are not related to the dining plan. Anyone can buy them and you'll see many, many posts on here regarding their appropriate use.

Are you staying on property? If so, you can buy one at your resort. Please keep in mind though that you can only get it filled at your resort. They are not good for the parks. Not sure how familiar you are with the program so just letting you know. I hope you have a great trip.

This actually is not true, you can fill them anywhere as long as you know where to fill them in the different resorts. As long as you have a cup in your hand, no one will probably say a word to you if you stop in somewhere to it fill up. Info on where to fill them can be found on allears.net under dining, then select refillable mugs. Also, I've always filled up my cup towards the end of my meals at restaurants. You can ask for an extra soda towards the end and I always pour that bring that with me at the end. Also, I've heard and experienced some really nice waiters and waitresses that have offered to refill our cups at the end of our meal at restaurants, although don't expect that. Being nice goes a long way and their tip reflected that.

As for wanting to buy cups and not being on the dining plan, they are available at all of the resorts and can be bought by anyone.

OP: Yes you can buy it at your resort. Just so you are aware the official policy is that you can refill it only at your resort and only during the one stay.
As the PP has noted, if you want to bend the rules then you could refill it at any resort you like and people do. It's just not within the rules.
Personally I can't be bothered to carry the mug around with me to other resorts.

Anyone can buy then at any resort. I have never been asked for my resort ID or to purchase one. I have purchased them while on and off the dining plan.

When new people join the dis there are alot of questions that they would like answered and not know where to find the answers......so the boards are a good place to look .

I have 20 or so refillable mugs.....some are from the first year they came out and we were at Port Orleans......The REAL Port Orleans..

The mugs can be bought at your resort and are a good value for us. Coffee, Tea, cocoa, cold drinks, and I know that Pop Century last fall had apple juice to drink..

The main reason why the mugs can be used at all the resort counter service locations is because they are all selling the same generic design, since they got rid of the resort logo mugs. So the Cast Members can not tell where the mugs were originally purchased.

I have used the quick service a lot lately and have lots of these mugs. (Just got two more at the Beach Club yesterday.)
And I think the two mugs would normally come to around $27. Which makes the quick service plan that much more attractive.
On the side of the mugs the wording mentions the refills are available at the beverage islands in the resort where the mug was purchased for the length of that stay.

Generally they change every year. Last years featured the Year of a Million Dreams logo (which lasted a lot longer than a year) and now they are bright "what will you celebrate" themed mugs. I would say they probably change every year or so...

There is no where to refill in the parks and officially only at the resort that you purchased it at.

Not at the parks but you can refill them at any of the resort counter service locations and not just where you purchased it.

thank you for the info! my mum thought that we were allowed to refill it in the park when we vistited wdw in '99. but.. 10 years is a long time...

We're always on the Dining plan, but we purchase our mugs for soda, then for our DDP drink, we'll get a water to take to the parks with us, or juice or milk or the kids breakfasts in the morning. Enjoy your trip!!
