I am considering a DL trip for august. We would fly probably from Detroit as things from Toledo always cost more. The prices I am getting now mean no trip--seriously, there are 5 of us and I can't afford 2/3 of our budget to be airfare. Any veterans of going to DL have any tips? Any airline to look for? (BTW I can't load the "ding" program at work because the administrators won't allow it, so I doubt I could get a SWA deal--their regular prices seem just as high as everyone else). Any day of the week better? Any help is appreciated--we've never flown to the west coast.

I just constantly watched fares. American Airlines popped up a $188 round trip price and I grabbed it on the spot. Flying MSP to LAX is very spendy and I am very happy with that price. Be diligent about checking fares and you may hope on to a deal...
