We are trying to iron down plans for a trip we are taking to Disney World in April of 2007. We live in Omaha, Nebraska and air options sort of stink leaving this city! You are at the mercy of the airlines to try and figure out the best possible situation.

I am not solely looking at the price but it is a major factor. We usually fly out of Omaha for average price between 175 and 250 for roundtrip. I started to put some different options together and I found a flight on Midwest Express that is NON STOP RT to Orlando for 227 with taxes that leaves out of Kansas City. I am not that familiar with Midwest Express and I am wondering if it is worth booking these tickets NOW to ensure we get this price? Or I am wondering my odds if I wait another 45 to 60 days and see if it gets cheaper?

Your thoughts? For those of you that have flown non stop Midwest Express flights, does 230 RT sound like a good price?

Thanks in advance!

I have flown Midwest many times, and all I can say is that they are a GREAT airline...I have to change planes in Milwaukee when I travel with them, so have never had a non stop flight. How far is the drive to Kansas City??? I would think with the way gas prices are, airfare probably won't go down......good luck with whatever you do!!!

SWA right now is over $300 RT from Kansas City to Orlando so I'd jump on that fare! I've never flown Midwest, but I've heard great things about them!

I have flown Midwest many times since 'finding' them in '98. I live 10 minutes from O'Hare, but always make the hour trek north to Milwaukee, usually the night before an early AM flight out. I stay at a hotel across from airport, use their shuttle in the AM, leaving my car in their lot for trip duration, calling them again when I return for pickup, and hour drive home. It is a GREAT airline.

They have two 'levels' of service, Signature and Saver. The flight from Milwaukee to Orlando is a nonstop, Saver. I have always taken that. I am planning on a Dec trip and did see they have a flight, with stop over in Kansas City, then to Orlando. That is a Signature, a 717. http://www.midwestairlines.com/MAWeb/travelPlanner/flightInfo/planeTypes.aspx Signature is GREAT!! I will be doing that one. And a great price too. I really do not antipate the fares being lower, or if so, not much. I say grab it.

DH and I fly Midwest express out of Kansas City whenever possible. It is our fav airline. 2 across leather seats are the most comfortable in the business (outside of 1st class). The choc. chip cookies are really great. If you want a meal they offer them for sale, $5, $7 and $10 choices and they are pretty darn good. We have had excellent service. The price you found is a pretty good price. It doesn't get much lower with Midwest (maybe $25 if you are lucky). The only thing I don't love about Midwest is the flight time for the direct flight to Orlando. I don't like getting into Orlando at 7:30 pm...I want to spend some of the day having a good time on my first day there. We also fly SW when we get the opportunity. Right now I have RT SW tickets for September that I paid $144 from Kansas City to Orlando non stop. They have great deals (but sometimes you have to wait a while for the deals to be released). The good thing about SW is you can book at a higher rate and if the tickets go on sale you can get credit for them and re-book at the lower price and have a credit on account to use within a year. I LOVE those direct flights by both SW and Midwest. :yay:

Midwest is a great airline as far as customer service. There aircraft are however some of the oldest in the nation (leading Northwest supprisingly). The only thing I dont like about them is that a vast majority of the Express aircraft are Beachcraft 1900's which are very very small turboprop aircraft (seating around 20 passengers or so) and are pretty uncomfy. The trek from KC to MCO is fairly long, so I would assume you will fly on their Dornier 328, a more comfy regional jet. Either way, $250 and under is a pretty hard to beat deal these days, so i would hop on it!!

KarlaG4Kids, my connecting flight leaves KC about 8:30 AM, arrives MCO about noon. It leaves Milwaukee for KC about 6:30. I am use to taking a nonstop from Mil at 7:30, I like the full day there too. Check it out. And the nice thing is the flight is their newest 717's, great planes. :thumbsup2

If you are at all flexible with your dates and times, I would guess that you would get a better price with Southwest. Plus SW has a nonstop flight from KCI to MCO that leaves at about 7 a.m. and arrives at 10:30 a.m. There's another non-stop later in the day. The good thing about SW is that you can get an account credit if they lower the price after you buy your ticket.

Hello! :wave2: We lived in Omaha almost 10 years before moving to central FL. :cheer2: DH's employer HQs are in Omaha.
If you can do ME -- go for it! They really are the best care in the air. :thumbsup2
We use to fly between Omaha and MCO. I did Midwest Express once. But that would have been years ago (but 5 or less). And things have changed, I am sure.
We more often did a stopover at Memphis or Atlanta. One time even Cincinnati.

We use to get a few RT for $139 - $159. But those were just pure luck. More often they averaged $200 each. But we have not flown that route for 2.5 years.

I will add I would not hassle with ME if that meant driving to KC and back -- unless you had family to visit and stay with there anyway.

Dan: Where does the flight from MCI to MCO go through? You said it leaves MIL at 6:30, stops in MCI and then gets to MCO by noon but I haven't found this flight from MCI. I can only find the flights that originate in MCI and connect through MIL then on to MCO. That one is a flight that arrives in Orlando in the morning but it is usally a bit more expensive than the direct MCI-MCO flight. I really enjoy flying Midwest!

The flights I am lookng at are 580, out of MKE at 6:30, in at MCI at 7:55. Then flight 704 leaves MCI at 8:45, arrives MCO at 12:15. Coming home, a direct flight (for me) is available, 697, at 8:59, arrive MKE at 10:45. All are 717'a, Signature service. Not sure if it would be different originating MCI.

ETA...

I did look at MA website. (looking in Dec, not sure about other times) Flight 704, out at 8:45 AM, return flight 705, out from MCO 12:50 PM. Both 717, Signature, total fare, $247. Still not bad, IMO.
