Midwest Airlines

I'm flying my niece's and Sister in Law down to Orlando for their first WDW vacation and I was wondering "how is this airline".

What does Midwest mean when they say "snack"?? Are you getting a meal or a bag of trail mix? They are flying from MSP to MCO and have a 35 minute layover down to Orlando - are all the gates close by in Milwalkee? or will they have to make a run for it?

We use Midwest regularly, in fact just yesterday! We have never had any major problems. In Milwaukee our experience has always been that all of Midwest's gates are in one area and not far at all to get from one to another. On the 4 flights we had over the weekend we had trail mix and a beverage on 3 of them and trail mix, a beverage and chocolate chip cookies on the 4th. Hope this helps.

We are also using Midwest Express and have used them once before. They use to serve very nice meals and now as most other airlines have changed their policy. But they do have VERY roomy seats. They are like 1st class seats of other airlines. I am pasting some info from there website about there food service.

On April 2, we launched a buy-onboard meal program, called In-flight Café, that will offer passengers the option of purchasing deli-style breakfast, lunch and dinner selections on flights. This program is a partnership with LSG Sky Chefs, the same company that currently provides our onboard meal service.

We will also continue to offer snack service – breakfast mix or a salty snack, along with our signature baked-onboard chocolate chip cookies – on all flights that offer beverage service.

Examples of the In-flight Café meals include:

Breakfast, 6:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Triple Berry Muffin Box: Fresh fruit salad with cantaloupe, honeydew and pineapple served with a triple berry muffin, raspberry yogurt, granola topping, whole wheat croissant, bottled water.

Lunch or Dinner, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Chicken Salad Sandwich: Sonoma chicken salad on a soft croissant served alongside a salad of young, small salad greens with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, an apple, bottled water.

Roast Beef Sandwich: Lean roast beef piled high on a ciabatta roll with cheddar cheese, caramelized red onions and horseradish spread on the side. Served with a salad of young, small salad greens with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, an apple, bottled water.

Don't expect those big roomy leather seats on Midwest Express anymore. They have changed some routes - including the flights to Orlando. Now they have some sort of "express saver" plan - which means we'll all be crammed into their planes.

I live about 10 minutes from O'Hare, but have flown Midwest Airlines (was Midwest Express till this year) out of Milwaukee, whenever I can for about the past 5 years. It is a wonderful airline. Main reason I fly them is I am 6' 6" tall and their seating is so much better than the others. They have about the best space between seats rows in the industry.

Until this fall, all the routes have been 2 and 2, first class leather seating. As the result of a FF survey (I participated), they took the 5 routes deemed to be mostly vacation travel (Orlando, Denver, LA, Las Vegas and Phoenix) and added one additional row, front to back, making them 2 and 3 seating, and reducing the fares substantially. (I made apost last night on this board, sharing the fact that I just got a $176 rate, Milwaukee/Orlando, Thanksgiving weekend. To me, that is a fabulous rate. Lowest I have ever paid on that route was about $230. I also have a Las Vegas trip booked for $215 for Oct.

Their service is great, planes are great, Milwaukee hub is super. I fly Midwest whenever I can. And still very roomy.

I booked flights on Midwest through Travelocity. Nothing ever came up for me to choose our seats(I was able to when I booked AA in 2002).
Do they have assigned seats? If yes, how do I get mine?
