My mother in law is taking our son on the plane with her while we drive down -- 12 yr old, what kind of id is he going to need if any to get through chicago midway and southwest, and then back from mco on southwest????? Thanks for the info !

Under 18 years of age does not require ID.

From TSA website. "Effective June 21, 2008, adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight."

We fly often and the children have never been asked for ID. The agents will ask them their names as they look at their boarding passes.

This has been our experience as well, your son should not have any problems.
