Never experienced this before but it could happen so figured I would ask here as I am sure someone has done it a time or two. If you wake up in the middle of the night/early morning hours and you decide to take a walk, what is the ship like? Do they have CMs still working/cleaning around the ship or is it pretty quiet without a sole in sight?

Yes, there are always CMs around, cleaning, whatever. The shops/lounges close up, but you can still walk around and look at stuff. Pretty quiet.

If you poke around here for photos of the ships, there are a few DISers who are either professionals or really great amateur photographers who have posted their photos... they all seem to take pictures in the middle of the night or early morning hours when the ship's public spaces are nearly empty... really beautiful shots. I wonder if someone else can find/post a link to one of those threads. It hard to image the ship looking that pristine in the middle of a sailing!

We were going back to our room at 2am and there were cleaners etc around but very quiet

Between midnight and about 4 am you can find a bunch of teens hanging out in the forward stairwell/elevator area on deck 9/10 on the classic ships. It took me a while to find them :crazy2: :furious:

One of my favorite DCL memories was having our whole family of 8 wake up at 4 am with jetlag on the first morning of our Fantasy cruise. We went up to beverage station and found the ship completely empty except for a few cast members washing the decks. The most amazing part was exploring all the beautiful lounges on deck 4 without seeing a single person the whole time we were there. The whole experience had a dream-like feel to it and I'd definitely recommend it if you happen to be awake around that time. Enjoying the sunrise from one of the top decks on a calm morning is also a special experience.
