7th - 12th graders, certain kids involved in one specific interest (about 30 kids) both boys and girls, at a sleepover together at the school, all sleeping in the big main auditorium. Four chaperones.

Would you let your kid or not?

Yes. You don't need a co-ed sleepover for kids to have sex. If they want to do it they will find a way. Probably less likely in such a public place. Talk to your kids. Give them all the safety they need.

So lets recap - it's a school sleepover - ages 13-18 boys and girls. All interested in a certain similar subject. 4 adult chaperones.

Yes I would be OK with this.

At school with chaperones...yes. Some random kid from school having a coed sleepover...no

yup, in fact I have had *lock ins* for my 4-H club many times...believe me...when you have that many teens together for the night...they never sleep...they are up all night.

Yes, in our area it would be called a "lock-in". Churches, schools, gymnastics clubs, ymca groups are lock-ins that my DDs have attended in the past. I'm sure there are more groups but can't remember them right now.

Yes, my chuch has done "lock-ins" like this for years. Nothing weird about it.

I let my kids go.

Yes, though I think the age range is a little big. Assuming they've been in the group awhile and are comfortable, they could go.

This. The kids enjoy hanging out and playing silly games, eating junk food, watching movies, telling ghost stories, maybe a bonfire.

That age enjoys staying up all night.

Yep and I'd dance all the way home after dropping kid off knowing I had an evening of peace, quiet and control of the remote:cool1:

I gotta ask. . .is this for real? My parents, who are in their 80's, had lock-ins at their church as teenagers.

Yes, I would be fine with this. Lock in's with chaperones are done pretty frequently around here!:thumbsup2

What are these things called? Lock-ins, or something?

I took part in several as a kid. One for a school-related event, one with my baseball league (which was co-ed), and one with my lasertag league (also co-ed).

Nothing funny happened. Girls didn't go home pregnant. Guys didn't gloat about their sleeping bag conquests. All was well.

I voted "yes."

Lock-in at a science museum was my fav.

Op yes do it, you wouldn't get any sleep good luck.

Get a morning volunteer group to serve kids breakfast .

My kids have been going to them for years, about as wild as they get is flashlight tag!

And now DH and I have been recalling lock ins of our youth. . .good memories.

Yes, but only if I was absolutely positive I wouldn't have to chaperon! :rotfl: After my last youth group lock in I swore to myself I'm officially too old for this!

Our middle school divides the boys and girls and one half be the boys the other half the girls with the chaperones sitting in the middle separating them.

My son did the sleepover when he was in middle school and my DD does it now that she's in middle school.

There have never been any problems.

Yes? It's not like they can just start doing 'sexual' things...they're all in a room together. Plus its suppervised, sooo they wouldn't really do much
