Mid-October v. Early December?

We are experienced Disney folks who usually are there during President's week. We might be joined by another couple with one newbie. We've been often enough that hitting a ton of attractions is not a must do, but getting our must do restaurants is.
We are accustomed to crowds and are looking for a "quiet" trip and have the opportunity for a quick weekend trip in either mid-October (the weekend after Columbus Day) of the first weekend in December (7,8,8).

Thoughts and opinions are being sought.

I’m not certain on accuracy, but 2 free crowd calendars show the weekend after Columbus Day in Red colors (busy, busy) so I would lean early December unless you really, really want to experience F&W and MNSSHP with 10’s of thousands of your very very close friends.

I would definitely do early December. Great weather. Also, the Christmas decorations will be out AND it will actually be the Christmas season!! LOL.

October (fall) is the new crazy season from everything I’ve read while early December has remained relatively quiet. If must do ADRs and lower crowds are a priority then December seems like the better fit.

October has way worse crowds but better events IMO (MNSSHP and Food and Wine Festival vs. MVMCP and Candlelight Processional ).

Since you're interested in food I'd attend in October because of F&W
