so I have written off October, lol.

For 2018 I am considering mid May, since my kids get out of school so early and dd18 will be finished at college early May.

Other option (cheap!) is Labor Day weekend. Probably thurs pm arrival with Monday departure, or fri arrival, tues departure. Dd18 will have class except sat, sun, mon, so we are sorta limited as she can’t miss college classes.

What do y’all think?
Heat doesn’t bother me. So don’t worry about that.

If budget dictates and you are ok with a shortened trip, I say do Labor Day. If budget isn't a problem and you want a little more time, I vote mid may. I also think in mid may you would miss a good bit on crowds with some kids still in school.

We went this past May, 10-15, and LOVED it! The weather was great. I will admit the humidity was beginning to creep up towards the end of trip; however, crowds were low. I do not recall waiting more than 20 mnts our entire trip!

That sounds great! Lower crowds is my biggest priority, so this helps a lot. Thx!

If I was going? May. (Actually, I am going in May!)

We went this Labor Day and cut our trip short after 2 days due to Irma. We will never go during peak hurricane season again. While hurricane season is long, Labor Day is right in the thick of it of the peak risk. We won’t take the risk again.

We have been Labor Day week before and loved it, but after this year we’re done with it. Heat doesn’t bother us either.

We’re going back in May to finish our Irma trip :)

We have gone mid-May every year for the last 4 years - it has been fantastic! Weather has been great, crowds are low. For 2018, we were able to reserve a GV at our non-home resort and there was plenty of availability all over WDW - both DVC and cash reservations. Maybe see you in a few months :-)

This is great to hear! We're going May 11-20 and are praying for manageable crowds. Our last trip was last October and it was INSANE! EPCOT parking lot was full so they were busing people from MK lot. We couldn't even make our ADR. I don't mind crowds, but it was a bit much last time.

We had always done Jan or Feb but a few years ago we started the first week of may
Crowds were about the same maybe a bit more
The weather has been a bit on the hot and humid side for us coming from the midwest but very doable

I would definitely pick May. Labor Day is so stinking hot and it rains a lot. The earlier Halloween parties are making it more crowded too. I think the week after LD is good, but that weekend can be busy. Also, Aug and Sept are PRIME hurricane season. Early May is the sweet spot, it is a very slow time, the weather is beautiful, spring breaks are done. It is one of the best times to go IMO. This past May was extremely slow, I could not believe how low the wait times were.

What dates were you there? My kids technically get out of school 5/19 but I could certainly pull them for that last week if needed. Once state testing is through, the rest is just killing time til the year ends.

Mid may is awesome. We week the 14th this year and it was a great time. Low crowds and great weather.

Great, thx! I’m looking at the 2nd half of that same week. My little ones get out of school 5/18 so I would just pull them the last couple days.

I would go in May for the weather and Flower and Garden Festival.

I would go in May. It would be a nice way to celebrate school being over. Fitting a trip in just before college classes start sounds stressful.

We have been Sept people for forever (leave Thurs before LD and return weekend after LD). The heat does not bother us at all. We actually like the heat. Crazy, I know...Anyways, what is bothering us is the earlier F&W and the earlier Halloween parties...Both of which have really increased crowds during that time. Is it peak season crowds? No, but it's increased enough just in the last few years to really make us consider changing the time we go.

We also had to leave WDW this last Sept a bit early due to Irma. It wasn't a huge deal to us because we did get most of our trip in and the crowds lightened a bit right before but that is something you would not have to deal with in May.

Been there both months as well. Definitely recommend going in May as well. As others have already posted, better weather, crowd levels are very manageable, and the Flower and Garden festival.
