Mid-May a reasonable time to visit?

We had so much fun this past Saturday that we've decided to head back around mid-May for my birthday. My actual birthday is on May 17th (a Sunday). I'm thinking going that day and the Monday after might work nicely since those dates fall in between my spring and summer school semesters. The free crowd calendars show those days to be pretty slow, but they also showed this past Saturday to have a pretty mild crowd, and the parks were rather crowded. Anyone have experience going around this time?

It seems like the difference between a two-park pass and an annual pass with blockout dates isn't that steep, so I'm also toying with the idea of springing for an annual pass so we can head back another time or two throughout the year. Hmm!

We go mid-May every year and in my opinion, is the best time of year to visit. The crowds are low and the onsite hotel rates are very reasonable. We booked RPR club level for $240.

Just avoid Fridays as the parks are jammed full of school groups.

It's a great time to go, be aware of the Middle/High School Grad events that close the parks early. April 17, 24, 25 and May 1 , 2, 8, & 15th.

Can I ask, how bad to the Grad Nites make it? We're going May 7-10 and I'm wondering how bad the crowds on the 8th will be. We're staying at CBBR and will have Park-to-Park if it impacts one park less than the other.
