If what you are looking for is a combination of decent weather and lighter crowds?

I would be afraid of Spring break in mid to late march.

Look back in my post again for an edit about historical park hours.

PD,
My favorite time to go is mid-May. We can no longer do it because the kids are too old and it's just to hard to take them out of school now. But I love the weather then (it's hot but not unbearable) and the crowds are moderate. Mid-March is nice also, but you do get too close to Spring Breaks (as every school system is different). We went in April once, about 2 weeks after Easter, and I thought the crowds were horrendous. Plus, we had a couple of "cool" days (like in the 70s) and we felt that we couldn't do the water stuff.

I vote for mid May. Flower Power Concerts!!!

Mid March is spring break for many colleges so I would have to say Mid-May.

May, much less crowded due to school breaks

I'm just concerned that you've lost your marbles PD. YOU are asking for advice on when to go to WDW? I really thought your answer to that would always be NEVER. ;)

Mid May was fine for us this past May when we went. Our school system is starting earlier and ending earlier these days, so our kids just missed the last two days of school, definitely no biggie around here. They don't do anything then anyway.:)
The weather was a bit hot, but we kept a few mister fans and that helped a lot. Luckily it was dry heat and not humid like later on. We had no rain at all while we were there, just a little bit coming home. The lines in the earlier part of the week were great! Real nice. By the end it became a bit more crowded, but certainly not unmanageable.
If you go then I think you'll enjoy it.
Kim

We always go Mid May and Love it.We go every year for SWW and Flower and Grden.May is the best time to go in my opinion. :sunny:

Definately mid-May. The weather in mid-March is too iffy...I want to be assured I can swim when I go to WDW.

Yes, but I do have a family who likes WDW. :teeth:

PD - We went this past May - the very last week. We took the kids out of school the last two days to beat some of the first wave of summer crowds. We went from a Wed to Wed and it included the Mem. Day weekend. I planned for heavy crowds and was surprised that it wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be. We used the UOG itinerary for MK, but the rest was not so heavily planned. We really accomplished a lot and included Blizzard Beach.

Many of the southern schools get mid March for Spring break (ours is like the third week of March). I'm not so sure we would ever do Spring break because I keep hearing of how bad the crowds were, plus the weather is iffy and we may not get to swim much.

I don't know how old your children are, but the events of the Epcot Garden show were appealing to me and my husband.

If I had to choose again, I would go again in May (and that's a hard choice because that would mean I would have to wait an extra 2 months!). The weather couldn't have been more perfect, crowds were minimal, and events going on were appealing to the adults.

Vic

(PS - we're going to Costco in just a little bit to pick up shrimp to grill!!! Might even get a hot dog for lunch. Can we pick up something for you???)

My kids are 4 and will almost be 5 by then. And yes, I need the 36 rooll pack of TP! Thanks! :rotfl:

Kirkland brand I assume. (Don't you hate that they're now individually wrapped??)

The only brand we use!

Back to your question - since your children are really young, I would definetly go in in mid May. The parks will be absent of a lot of young kids and yours can really enjoy Fantasyland which is the most bottle-necked part of MK.
