Mid-Jan trip - TONS of ride closures! Problems going during low season?

We were locals with passes for several years, and we always loved January. It's MUCH less crowded and the weather is usually great. There are always several ride refurbs in January, but it doesn't have to ruin the trip.

As for taking it with a grain of salt...that may be true at WDW, but in our experience, when DLR says a ride is going to be closed, it's going to be closed. Usually for the exact dates, and sometimes extended. So I would assume that the closures will definitely be in effect. (Especially HM - that's changing the overlay and always happens in January.)

Not necessarily. For a while Disney said that TSMM was going to be closed December 9-11. But then they closed Screamin' instead for those dates. Usually they're accurate, but things can always change.

My friend and I will be there January 9th to the 13th, and we are staying at the GCH. I have actually contacted Disney more than once, and they said WOC will not be closed. I am a WDW girl, so I have zero experience with DL (this is my first trip to DL). However, during our last trip to WDW this past May, there were a bunch of refurbishments posted on people's Disney blogs, but none of the presumed closures were actually closed. I now take it with a grain of salt.

We'll be at Disneyland in early February and are staying offsite for a quick 2 day trip. We also are a Disney World family (and we are Disney World in late April-early May this year and got to enjoy a week of rain) and are looking forward to visiting Disneyland.

mid jan is excellent time to go. that's when we go.
- most rides are a short wait or walk on. love that!

- some of the shows may be offered only certain days, or weekends only.

-weather is great. just make sure to bring a sweater for the evenings.

Oh cool! It is so strange to be going to DL, but I'm looking forward to staying at The Grand California Hotel. I am taking another trip to DL in March with my son and dad. My son is adamant about seeing Carsland. I'm doing a 4-day cruise in September and then back to WDW we go. I feel sad to have such a block of time between WDW trips!
