How is the weather and the crowds in mid Feb.? I was thinking of going then or should I hold off until May? Can you still swim?

I'm not sure of your exact dates for Feb, but we went this past Feb 8-15 and have planned a returned trip for Feb 7-14 of 2004. Anyway...the weather during the day is great; mid to upper 70's to maybe low 80's. The mornings and evenings (after the sun goes down) are a little cool. We had to buy the girls sweatshirts as we didn't bring any with us. The crowds are almost non existant as we never had to wait in line for anything longer than about 10 minutes. As for the pools and swimming, all the pools (to my knowledge) are heated. Our kids swam every evening after the parks closed. Oh, that's one big disapointment for us is that the parks closed so early; 6:00pm. Epcot was open until 9:00 for the Lumination show on the lake. I hope this helps!!

We were there 2 years ago from Feb. 12-19 approx. It did get hot in the day. We usually had short sleeved shirts and pants. At night just a light jacket. Our dss did very well with zip off shorts. Less packing too. Jeans and shorts in one. A few notes. We were at the Poly and our kids actually got sick (chilled etc.) while walking back from the pool after swimming. Yes the pool is heated but the walk back to the room can be really cold. More than a towel. Like a jacket with hood or hooded sweatshirt should have been better. Also germs were everywhere. We were suppose to meet some friends at cinderellas castle, when we called their room at the WL they told us their daughter had an ear infection (They spent 6 hours at centra care for that) and our one ds was vomiting. Gee. Also that week is when alot of metro ny/nj schools have off. The poly was totally booked the cm told us. We pulled our kids out of school a little early so we could check in and get the value rate before the seasonal rate when up. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

girls2x - it looks like we'll be there at the same time and if I'm guessing right you have 2 girls - I have two boys and my name is Sharon. If you're staying at the BWI or BC ( we still haven't decided yet) then we'll see you there.

Sharon (perpetualplanner) - I actually have 3 girls now, 11, 7, and 2. My login name is also my ebay id and when I registered for ebay in 1999, I only had two girls and I never changed it. Anyway...we will spend our first night at the new Pop Century then on Sunday we are moving over to the WL. We usually stay off site on Saturday night (we drive from WV) but after reading a great post from Tyler about the tour he took of Pop Century, I had to change my ressies. Anyway...I hope to see you in Feb!!

I'm glad this question was asked because I was wondering the same thing. When I went home on my lunchbreak today I brought up Disneyworld to my b/f. He said those magic words "Sure, lets go". Well, no need to say anymore. I already picked the dates and called the Travel agency. I chose All star Movies Feb. 2nd to the 9th.

My last trip I stayed at PO FQ. Can someone tell me how much smaller the room at All Stars is compared to POFQ? Also, my travel agent gave me a quote of $1663.00 for two adults. It includes round trip air, room, tickets and transfers to and from the hotel. Does this price sound right?

LAH - DO THE TRIP YOURSELF!! It will be much cheaper all the way around. As for the All Star Movies Resort, did you ask for this resort or is that what your TA (travel agent) gave you? There is a brand new value resort opening up in December, Pop Century. I personally would switch your ressies to this resort. You may be able to get a rate of $55/night once the discounts come out for that time frame. As for airfare, US Airways is having a great sale right now from many cities at absolutely fantastic deals to Orlando. Go to their website and check it out. Read the fine print as you must purchase by the end of September and finish travel by Feb 12th (which you are). Are your tickets lenth of stay passes? If so, they may not be worth your money because depending on when you are arriving at WDW on the 2nd and the time you are leaving on the 9th, those would be wasted days. You could get a 5, 6 or 7 day Hopper Pass that would save you some money. I really think if you research this a little that you could do much better than the 1600.00 the travel agent quoted you. Oh, for your tickets...go to the "Budget Forum" and do a search or post a thread on where is the best place to buy tickets right now. Go to "Mousesavers.com" to find the latest and greatest discounts. Hope this helps and sorry it's so long. I just hate to see you pay more money than you truely need to for your trip!!

Sherri,

Thanks for the quick reply!!!! Based on what the TA said, it's a 8 day pass and we will be arriving at MCO at 15:59. Leaving on the 9th at 6:30pm. She said that rate is based on the Disney Winter Dream Maker package. We must book by the end of the month.

Any other suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciate.

LAH - Ok, let's see. I know you can do better than the price you were quoted. The airfare I can't get for you because I don't know where you live exactly. But here is the breakdown for the other things...

All Stars for 7 nights at $55/night - $385

Ultimate Hopper Passes 7 days - $329 * 2 = $658 OR

Ultimate Hopper Passes 6 days - $290 * 2 = $580

(I quoted both because on the 2nd you are scheduled to arrive at 4:00pm and that is if you expierence no delays, so that's really a wasted day on your 8 day passes from your travel agent. Your return flight leaves at 6:30, you will need to be out of your room by 11:00 am but you could possibly go to a park prior to your departure, hence the 7 day UHP price). So... not including airfare your totals are $1043 for hotel & 7 day passes or $965 for hotel & 6 day passes. I am by no means trying to have you cancel your ressies through your travel agent, I am just trying to save you some money!! However, your TA may be giving you some extra perks that may be worth the extra dollars you may be paying!!

LAH are you Military in any way? I ask because you used military time to state your arrival time. My husband uses it and it throws me. If so you should consider going over the packages because military have the best options for tickets and discounts and such! Alot of your cost will be the airlines because you can proably get the hotel and tickets at better prices than the TA. Also, I don't usually by PLUSes because in February I don't want to go to the water parks. But if this costs include food you might want to stick with it. Also one other thing. When the TA says transfers from the airport does she mean like a MEARS shuttle? if so I would consider piecing this thing together so that you can get a towncar. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

Just a thought.
