Thought we were all set for a 7 night split stay(GF/AKL)1/1/04-1/8/04. Wife informs me this am she now wants to go in Feb., as we have the past 2 years(GF 7 nights);we settle on 4 nights GF checking in 2/11/04(value season rate, currently not even a AAA discount, but I'm still confidentaly hopeful of something for these 4 nights). Ok, heres the kicker, I was up for trying the AKL-savannah view which I had at AAA (approx>$260/night, with a very good chance of an even better discount for my old dates 1/5/04-1/8/04); yes, I am rambling, because I now have held a Savannah view room in peak season at an AAA rate of approx. $360/night. Am i right to think that my chance of An AP or some other significant discount are probably nil for this 3 night extravaganza(2/15/04-2/18/04)? My 6 year old definetly wants the animals outside the room. Should, I switch to a standard view, hope for an upgrade, and if not, buck up for savannah at check-in? I think this would be possible, as I think some of the Presidents weekend crowd will have gone. Thanks!

I would switch to a standard view. One of the CM at AKL once told me that anyone who pays for SAV during the slow season is not too bright. At check in they will upgrade you to keep people in one area, it makes it easier for room service, mousekeeping, etc.... If they won't complimentary upgrade you at check in, then pay for it. Rooms will be available, I am sure.
