Hi there - will be traveling with my o so fussy almost 2 year old in a couple of weeks. I don't want her eating hot dogs, chicken fingers and french fries for the week. I was thinking I could pack her meals so she can still get some decent food in her while picking items from plate.

Do you know if any of the parks have microwaves available to warm up food for a toddler? I remember my last trip to Sea World and they were available at most cs locations. Just can remember if Disney has them.

Thanks in Advance.

I'm sure they do. But an alternative that we have done in the past is to order a side item for our daughter and given her that. Green beans, mashed potatos, etc are usually available in a restaurant and everyone has been happy to give us a side of vegetables for our toddler. I don't like giving fried foods either, especially when they are just as happy to have a green bean!

My 17 y o DD has food allergies so I've written to Disney about special food available for her. I've received wonderful emails back from head chefs at all parks. Every Email states that you can bring outside food into the parks but because of Florida State law, they are not allowed to heat anything brought into the parks. This may just mean Table Service restaurants, I don't know. However, I don't remember seeing any microwaves out in CS areas for customers to use.(I may just be blind) Check out menus at wdwinfo.com many places now offer much healthier kids menus. Best Wishes!

I believe the child care centers have microwaves for you to use if you wanted to feed her there instead.

I believe you are correct. I just looked online too and microwaves are still listed as amenities at the child care centers.

that is super that you want to do this too.......We knew that there were microwaves in the resort food courts but never thought of the parks.......thanks for this useful information.......

I heated my kids food by sitting the jar or container in a cup or bowl of hot water, which is available in any CS or TS restaurant.

I have also read about people heating food at the resort and bringing it in a thermos. This works just as well for solid food as for liquids. (You can pre-heat the thermos by rinsing it with hot water.)

The microwaves are guest-accessible in the baby centers, yes. But restaurants won't touch your food. Using hot water (as someone noted) is possible, but you're better off bringing the food pre-heated or pre-cooled in its own little thermos bag/backpack, straight from the hotel.

You can see why Disney makes it hard, though. They want to sell you the food!

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with this last sentence. Disney does not even offer baby food for purchase in their restaurants. And even if you give your baby some of an adult's food mashed up, Disney doesn't charge you. In some cases, even if you order a side portion of veggies for a child under three, you won't get charged.

I'm sure the reasoning for not offering microwave services is more health and hazard related.

I'm not saying Disney doesn't want to make a buck any way they can, but not providing microwaves for baby food can't be their next big money-making idea.:upsidedow

I agree with you 100%

Just to clarify, I am not sure if the OP is talking about baby food. Her child is almost two and probably is eating some (if not all) solids by now. I think she just would like healthier options for her two year old.

The reason that they (disney, servers, whoever) can not heat food that you have brought in for yourself or your child is because of cross contamination. You may have special food for a special diet, say due to an allergy, that could get contaminated by what ever was in the microwave last. As well as some of the other reasons already mentioned.
