Thanks in advance for your help...........I was checking to see anyone knows about requesting a microwave in our room? Thinking of staying at POR.........I know fridges are standard now (yeah) but being able to microwave oatmeal in the morning without having to walk to the food court at 6:30am would be great for my little ones! I didn't think this was possible at all, until I read a review on allearsnet where a reader received one at WL. thanks!

Why not just heat water in the coffee pot that is already in the room?

I too have asked this question in the past, since I have twice gotten one at WL and once at BC, for no charge. I requested one at the Poly for this upcoming trip, but haven't heard of being able to get one there. I think I found sort of an indirect answer why recently. I think microwaves are available for request only at the resorts that have DVC properties attached to them. This makes sense, because DVC would have to keep enough microwaves on hand to ensure that all DVC owners have working microwaves in their rooms. Since we always go during value season, there are usually an excess number of microwaves lying around unused probably, and it's no skin off anyone's nose for my family to use it for that week. This would not be the case at non-DVC resorts. So, unfortunately, the answer is probably no for POR.

FWIW, this is what we do with the coffee pot -- hot water for instant oatmeal, hot chocolate and/or tea. It's pretty tough to make 'real' non-instant oatmeal with a microwave so if the OP is heating up instant oatmeal, I'd say the coffee pot should suffice (assuming the OP isn't overly sensitive to a potential coffee-aftertaste in the water)
