Can you request one? I'll have a 9 mo old; may need to warm up the occasional bottle (well, the water to stick the bottle in - not the bottle itself.) Also, I'm figuring it would be helpful for some snacks/leftovers...

I don't know if you can get one in your room, but I do know that whitewater snacks has a microwave out where customers can use it. I suppose that wouldn't be very helpful for middle of the night bottles though.

No they do not have them and you can request them but they do not provide microwaves for the guests. WWS does have a micro.

If I needed one badly, I'd go buy a cheapie $30 micro from Walmart and leave it for the maid to keep when I go. Just leave a note saying you can have it, we don't want it anymore; w/ contact info in case her boss needs to confirm this.

Will WWS allow you to microwave items not from their store? Anyone try before?

Maybe you should consider the Villas at Grand Californian. This is the new DVC property at DLR. Opens in Sept 2009. Even the smallest villa (studio) will have a microwave and fridge. May be hard to book, but sounds like it would suit your needs nicely. Worth an inquiry, perhaps?

The microwave is in the sitting area, with tall walls between you and the food-buying area. I don't think they really care who microwaves what.

You could just walk in the door, turn right, and use it, without ever seeing a CM.

I would have inquired if I had known about them. We're already booked for GCH. The two or three bedroom villa would have been perfect for our party of 6 (2 kids + 2 parents + 2 grandparents.) Sure they are spendy, though.

Wouldn't it just be easier to buy and pack a bottle warmer?

Well, I'd like the microwave for more than just warming bottles. Actually, we'd only need an occasional bottle warmed - only if grandparents babysit while dh & i go out for a nice dinner. I'm figuring we'll have leftovers from dinners out, so it'd be nice to warm up food. I'll also be pumping, so I need a microwave to sterilize my parts... ( sorry if that's TMI.)

I think the microwave should serve our purposes nicely.

Thanks for the picture. I'm always amazed at the helpful responses I get on this board. As an aside, do people just take picture of everything or in response to a question on the boards? I would never think to take a picture of the microwave, lol!

Just so you know I was at GCH last year with my 2 year old (still using bottles at the time), I attempted to use that same in the picture to microwave/ heat up milk in a cup to pour into the bottle and someone working there told me it was only for food purchased at that time (I brought the milk into the place). So I said I bought the milk there earlier (one of those "chug style), but she said it had to be purchased and used at the same time ... for health issues. An onlooker told me to try to sneek into the concerige (spelling) room to use the microwave. Didn't try that. I instead used the coffee maker in our room with a bar glass and put the bottle into the bar glass and warmed it in the coffee maker....it worked;) The microwave is out in the open, so I don't know how bringing in pump parts will go over if someone is waiting to heat up their donut.

BTW, we will be back in a few weeks now with a 7 month old. I would love to use the microwave to heat formula, but I'm not risking it. We are buying the single serving bottles of Similac and bringing like 40 of them!

Just take note of the WWS hours, so you're not caught by surprise.

FWIW, I pumped sometimes and never sterilized the stuff, just washed in hot water (which, of course, you won't have, oh well).

Also, you might see if baby will accept milk from the fridge. I never really needed the frozen milk except for one time, when there was a hungry, teething, wanting-to-chomp boy, and a frightened me (oh those gums!), and that was the very first time he had pumped milk, and he took it frozen until it melted, then ice cold. He *LOVED* it. I think I warmed some up for him once, and he liked that too. He was just an overall mama milk lover, LOL.

So you might give that a shot; if I'd needed to give DS pumped milk on a regular basis it sure would have made things easy, than having to heat it up!

As for the pic :rotfl:, I was picking up breakfast for the fam, and they did half my order wrong. So I had to wait wait wait, and I got bored. I always take my camera with me, and along with the kayak up on the wall (taken both with flash and without, to see what looked better), I took a pic of the microwave station, which I had NEVER noticed before. :upsidedow

Way to go, MacGyver! That is pretty clever. I can't believe that gave you guff about using the microwave, but your solution sounds better anyway because you can do it right in the room.

I can never kludge together things like this. I probably would have warmed the bottle under my armpit or something.
