Microwavable Bowl

Anyone have any recommendations for a bowl that I could use to microwave my oatmeal at work that doesn't get super hot to the touch? The bowl I am using now gets really hot after a minute and I actually burned my finger the other day.

I prefer plastic to glass in the microwave as glass gets too hot. I have a set of microwavable Tupperware bowls that I always use for oatmeal.

I use (and we have oatmeal 3-4 times a week) Corning ware small bowls that have a handle and a lid.
We also have bowl holders we use also. DD gave them to us and they are great. Amazon calls them hot bowl cozies

Link please. These sound awesome. We have some small, deep Corelle bowls. I think they are “custard” bowls… but there no handle or lid.

(Off to find a link to ours)

I can only find the bowl with no lids on Amazon, but if you search for them, a lot of other brands come up.
Mine are from the 70s

I like those Dollar Tree like soup cups w/handles for the microwave. If you cover it w/a paper plate and put a paper plate under it in the microwave it should help with the possible mess that might happen.

Those potholder-like things that they sell at craft shows are pretty good for shielding your hands from hot bowls from the microwave. However, that has the potential to get gross pretty quick if there is any type of "boil over".

Thank you for the suggestions. I was trying to avoid plastic but it might be the better option.

Or maybe getting a small electric kettle and making instant oatmeal?
I used to do the instant and add hot water from the water cooler. But I like “real” oatmeal better. Plus a lot of the instants have a lot of sodium, which I need to limit. I also use milk instead of water now for added nutritional boost. The diet I try to follow says to have 3 low fat dairy products a day.

I buy paper bowls from Samsclub that I use for microwaving things like that. They are lined so they don't leak. They work really well for me.

This is what I do, only the plates are plastic and I'm pretty sure they came from the dollar store. That way your food is still cooking in glass but the plastic plates aren't hot to the touch.
