I typed up a report using Word, but I want to send it now without the ruler, notations, etc. at the top and sides. Um, what do I do? I am Word clueless. lol

That is, how do I publish it without all the junk. :teeth:

Thanks!

When you click 'print preview' (under the File menu) it will show you the what it will look like when you print or send it as an attachment. The ruler and notations shouldn't show up. They're just used to help you with indenting, etc.

Thanks, I sent it a an attachment, but all the junk still showed up. Any clue how to send it without it?

On the top click "Vew" then click "Ruler" which will turn that off. Next click "View" then "Print Layout." Next "View" then "Markup" which should hide a lot of the junk. Now "Save" and it should be all set.

All that "junk" is part of Word - the program itself - not the file you have created. Anybody who opens that file in Word is going to see that junk if it is turned on in their version of the program.

I don't think we fully understand what you are trying to do with the file. If you give a bit more info, people should be able to help you.

What are you trying to do with this? As has been pointed out the items you're trying to get rid of are part of Word, not part of the document, so they are always visible when the document is opened in Word.

Typically, when folks want to send a document in such a format, they convert their Word files to PDFs which can be read by Adobe Acrobat. A PDF file appears as the printed document would.

Here's a link to instructions for doing this "using freely available tools":

Thank you!

I actually had posted earlier about another problems I was having. I was using OpenOffice and each time I printed out my document it was garbling the sentences and looked messed up. Then when I used Microsoft Word it looked like it wasn't "set" if that makes sense. I used Adobe - thanks, bicker.
