I'm told that Microsoft has "buyout" this Thursday and ,thus, not everything will be available to the general public. Has anyone heard about this and how much of the parks might not be open to the public? Will this be limited to after hours?

When we were there over Christmas, IOA closed a few hours early one night due to a corporate function. Apparently, a corporation/convention rented the entire park for several hours. Nobody, except the party goers were allowed in. However, we knew this in advance, as it showed up on the open/close schedule.

I looked at the park hours on the UO website and such a buyout did not show on either--there was an indication that both parks close at 8PM.

Actually, Universal closes at 6:00 PM on Thursday. When organizations rent the park, it is always in the evenings. Sometimes the park closes an hour or two early and the "special event" starts at 7:00 PM. Disney has these also. It shouldn't interfere with any of your rides while you are there. It is after hours.

I know my sons works an "event" tomorrow, after park closing. He works until 11:30 PM tomorrow. I don't think he works on Thursday night but by looking at the calendar it appears that Universal does close at 6:00 PM so I am sure there is an event that night.

I wonder how much it costs to rent out the park after hours. Anyone know?

If its under $500, I'm buying.

Microsoft TechEd is going on this week, and they have an attendees-only party at Universal on Thursday night from 7:30pm - 11:00pm.

Here are the details from the TechEd conference information:

Microsoft Tech·Ed 2005 Attendee Party
Thursday, June 9 7:30pm – 11:00pm Universal Studios Orlando
Join us Thursday evening at 7:30pm at Universal Studios Orlando, where the park will be open exclusively for Tech·Ed attendees. You will receive VIP treatment as you are greeted on the red carpet by Hollywood characters and a strolling band. While at Universal, you will be able to experience attractions such as:

· Shrek 4D
· Revenge of the Mummy New!
· Twister...Ride it Out Thrill Ride
· Back to the Future...The Ride
· Men In Black Alien Attack
· JAWS!
· Earthquake: The Big One
· E.T.’s Adventure
· Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
· T2: Battle Across Time
· The All New Beetleguice’s Graveyard Revue!
· Blue Brothers Show
· Extreme Ghostbusters Street Show

I can't answer about the price because I don't know. Sometimes, groups rent out the entire park and other times, they rent out just a small section (like around the Revenge of the Mummy area.) Some groups even rent out both parks. But they are after hours.

If you get 500 people each to pay that, it may work

Are the Ghostbusters back at Universal? Either the Microsoft invitation is correct or it is a misprint.

Aha!!! figured something out

BTW, I'm sure the invite is wrong.

First Microsoft takes over our computers, then our parks! They should have went over to those mouse theme parks.

Seriously though, I saw a bunch of people from Dell invade the park once. They had a special lanyard with a big map of the park. They didn't buy out the park, but they had their own special viewing area for the Stuntacular show. You can tell by the mentioning of that show how long ago that was.

I knew I should have gone down instead of just sending my employee. Of course he is so into programming, he probably will not go to the event so he can play with some of the new skills he learned.

They've been talking about this event on other boards. They joke about it being nerd city.
