Hi,
I have an old windows xp computer. As of today, I no longer have Microsoft Essentials Security. Does anyone know of a good replacement I can download for free? Thank you.

I have has avast (free) on my computer for years while refusing the microsoft updates and have never had a problem with it.
If it helps you feel any better you aren't losing a whole lot of security. Their decision to stop updating included consideration of the level of risk with that particular operating system. XP is old enough it's boring so nobody is really attacking it specifically. They have moved onto breaking the newer ones.

As said, AVAST or AVG will both do you fine.

One year AVAST beats out AVG in detection scores and the next year AVG comes out ahead. Both are free.

One caution, in the past year or so, both have become somewhat adapt at trying to push things into the installation, such as toolbars, Google Chrome, etc.

LOOK carefully at each pop-up screen as you are installing -- LOOK at everything....and make sure you are not installing any extras that you really do not want.

AVG was "worse" on that point IIRC.
