Just curious if anyone has taken the Microsoft 2007 Test-out for college? Has anyone passed it? NOT the Microsoft Certification Test.
Here is why I am asking . . .
I have a Bachelor's Degree in IT, but they don't consider any degrees over 5 years old. I am returning to a local community college for another degree to try to do something that cannot be off-shored.
Before I started the test--the instructor told me with great pleasure that "Not many people pass this test." This really did not phase me as I was confident in what I know about the Microsoft programs.
I know Word, Excel and PowerPoint very well and somewhat familiar with Access. I took the the test and failed both Word and Excel
--did not even make it to PowerPoint or Access. The test was all automated and very rigid. For example, it told me to go to the top of the document and type specified text. From what I gathered from the instructor, it did not let me proceed because I did not use the "Home" key to go to the top of the document. More than 1/2 the questions for Excel wanted me to do some sort of formatting simultaneously--I could not get this to work in the test even thought I know how to do it.
The instructor that is in charge of the test-out for Microsoft 2007 is out until next week. This just makes me angry--I paid $100 to take a test that not many people pass. Now they want me to take the class--another $500 plus $150 for the book. Part me feels like just suck it up and take, but the other part of me feels like I should not. I really just don't have a spare $650 laying around. Sorry this post is so long.
