Does anyone have a couch or chair made of microfiber? I am considering a couch but I'm wondering how it will be with dogs. I can picture it being a magnet for hair.

Any experiences with this type of fabric?

It is definitely a pet hair magnet and very difficult to get it off of there. I also can't stand how the material feels. I would never buy microfiber again :sad2:

Thank you for the warning! Back to looking at leather couches.

It will always be leather for me from now on. In fact, you have inspired me to switch the family room micro with the sitting room leather. NO ONE goes in the sitting room, not even the animals

First thing to look for in furniture right now... is it in stock, guaranteed delivery date.

We have a microfiber couch at our vacation home and I don't mind it - it does collect dog hair but it's pretty easy to vacuum, and it's easy to clean (I clean it with glass cleaner, of all things).

My dad has a microfiber recliner. It's holding up OK. The only microfiber furniture we have are from a dining set. It's mostly wood, but the chair cushions are padded microfiber. I sit in one a lot and the cushion seem has compressed permanently. It also holds onto stains. And once I accidentally dropped an electric shaver and the hair pieces came out onto the cushion and I've never been able to completely clean that out.

I'd like to hear more about cleaning with glass cleaner.

We have a microfiber couch but we don’t have any pets. It’s gotten dirty over the years. Not sure of the best way to clean it.
If you do get leather, make sure it’s real leather and not bonded leather, which is the type that’s prone to peeling off.

Most are actually pretty good as general purpose cleaners.

Synthetic microfiber is soft, durable, and attractive…but can be difficult to keep clean. Even water can leave unsightly spots on microfiber upholstery! But a spritz of Windex can work wonders. Simply spray the surface lightly—careful not to soak the fibers—then brush very gently with a soft-bristled scrub brush, working in the same direction. Tough stains might require a second application.

Don’t get microfiber! Pet hair loves to get stuck and it’s a pain to get out. Learned my lesson.

We had a microfiber sofa once years ago when the kids were little for about 5 years. Drops of water, Kids napping sweat, neck sweat, and wet hair made stains. Then there were those sitting smells. No matter what I did, I couldn't get them out. Never had that problem with a regular fabric sofas.
