Mickey's Very Scary Dining Review

I headed down to the world October 2-7th. I traveled to with my boyfriend from Indianapolis and we stayed at All Star Music. We upgraded our dining plan to include table services. I worked really hard on getting good tables but we only book 6 weeks out so we had to settle with some of the not so popular restaurants. I am sorry, my post does not include many pics . We were booked at Sanaa and Kona but (although they might have been some of the best food at the world) I had to cancel midway through the trip becaue we decided to attend MNSSHP. Also, I am a RN and I work the night shift; I was getting really tired and taking the bus to the parks, then to another resort, then back to the parks, then to our resort was taking a toll on me.

We arrived to our resort around 10 am and we were very happy to see our room was ready. We were pretty hungry so we dropped off the luggage and headed to the food court around 1030 am. They said they serve breakfast until 11 am so we got on the bus to head to Hollywood Studios. Once we hit the gates we made a B line for Pizza Planet. The restaurant had no lines and plenty of empty tables. We dined upstairs and had a nice view of the rest of the activities in the restaurant. I ordered the veggie pizza which comes with a ceaser salad and I decided on the cappocinno cupcake for dessert. My boyfriend decided on the same only a chocolate chip cookie. The pizza was good but this was the only QS location we got medium cups that were mostly ice. We did decide the pizza was too greasy and we needed to blot the pizza with a napkin. The chocolate chip cookie was standard and the cupcake was HUGE and very RICH. I only had a couple bites but the cupcake was moist and fresh. The icing was the best! Overall, boyfriend gives this stop a 6 or 7. The price for two pizzas and ceaser salad, two cokes, and two desserts was $38 (for those not on the dining plan).

We had a 5 pm ressie at GF Cafe, this was OUR BEST EXPERIENCE at the world! The atmosphere is great, the service was wonderful and we had a great table in the corner near a window. We started with the Pina Colava which was yummy, very sweet and I loved the coconut flavor but there was not much alcohol in the drink at all. We didn't ask if a speciality drink would have been covered on the dining plan but we would have been better off to just have asked for a virgin speciality drink. My boyfriend ordered the NY strip steak medium rare and LOVED IT. He gave the steak a 9 out of 10. I ordered the Mahi Mahi. I would rate my meal an 8 out of 10. For dessert he had the pineapple shorbet and rated it a 9 out of 10 and I had the lemon cheesecake and I rated it a 7 out of 10 because the lemon flavor was a little overpowering. I forgot to mention that we showed up a little early and the cafe was able to seat us about 10 minutes early. We arrived early to many restaurants and all were great about seating us early. I don't know if thies was because we were a party of two . But it was great!

Also, we uploaded a couple hundred on a disney giftcard prior to the trip to cover tips. It worked great and it was nice knowing EVERYTHING was already paid for!

On day two we decided to open the Magic Kingdom and hit some of the most popular attractions before the crowds hit. Naturally, by 1030 am we were starving! And again...no lunch until 11 am. So at EXACTLY 11 am we hit up Columbia House Harbour. The restaurant is great, with plently of seating (although there was only two other families in the restaurant at this time). We got a great table upstairs overlooking the park. I also like the convience of the bathrooms at this spot. It really annoys me when you have to leave the restaurant just to go to the bathroom! The only downfail of this choice is was that the CM weren't too friendly and my boyfriend choice the chocolate cake and wished he would have went with the apple crisp (which looked amazing and the CM suggested AFTER we got our food). My boyfriend ordered the shrimp basket, chocolate cake, and coke. I ordered the tuna sandwhich, strawberry yogart, and a coke. This was my boyfriends favority QS so of course I stole a shrimp and a french fry or two. The Shrimp was very yummy and not greasy at all. He gave the shrimp basket an 8 out of 10 but he gave the chocolate cake a 2 out of 10. He though the cake was dry and had little flavor. I had the tuna sandwhich; which was HUGE. This meal could easily be shared. In fact, I only finished half my sandwhich, half my yogart and I didn't touch my chips. When I ordered my meal I asked if I could subsititue potato chips for french fries but I was denied. I am not really a fan of potato chips but my boyfriend ate my chips and loved them. I would give the tuna sandwhich a 9.

Since we arrived to the MK early we were able to head back to the resort and freshen up before heading to downtown disney for an afternoon of shopping before dinner at Cape May. Our ressie for Cape May was at 5 pm, which is the first ressie time of the night. We were seated at a table. The food was good. We both gave it an 8 but the atmosphere, service and table manners of surrounding guests almost ruined the experience. But let's start with the good, I am from Indiana so I thought the crab legs were good but to many of you they might have just been medicore. One thing I didnt like was they gave us a crab leg cracker and a bucket but now little crab fork. The mashed potatoes are to DIE FOR and there was some breaded fish that had a really fancy name , it was AWESOME TOO! The ceaser salad was better than most but the breaded shrimp was just okay. The dessert buffet was seriously lacking choices. I think I remember a small red colored cheesecake, a small key lime pie, cookies and some cupcakes. Also, the decor in this place is lacking and I didn't like that you had to leave the restaurant to use the restroom. The service was just okay at best.
Buffets seem to bring out the worst in people, I hate it when people cut you. I understand you may want only one item in the section but please people wait your turn! We also noticed many people eating with their hands on the way to their tables then going back to the buffet to refill and touch the tongs with those same hands! I know you didn't wash those dirty paws; the bathroom is outside the restaurant lol. Oh I will stop here before someone gets offended...But seriously. We give the food here an 8, the service a 5 and the atmosphere a 2.

Well Wednesday my grandparents drove up from Ocala, Fl to spend the day with us at Epcot. We planned on arrive to the parks early for EMH but my grandparents were running late and by the time the arrived to the park it was time for lunch. We all agreed on Cantina De San Angel because we love Mexican food and the atmosphere is very inviting. For service and atmosphere this place gets a 10 but for food we all agree this place was well below average. I would give it a 4 my boyfriend a 5. My grandparents and my boyfriend both ordered the beef tacos. They were a shredded beef taco that came with little to no toppings, chips, and pico. The meet was very dry and had a BAD after taste. I tried the cheese empandas. They were just bland tasting, a little on the greasy side and the cheese was very thick. For dessert I tried the churro and my boyfriend tried the Lemon popsicle (although it was a bright lime green color). The churros were good. They were moist and warm but the carmel sauce was a sad excuse for carmel or sauce for that matter. It was milky and thin with little to no taste. My boyfriend said that the popsicle was very bland in taste.

After this lunch I really wanted to change my 320 lunch at Coral Reef to something I knew had better reviews or maybe an old favorite but then I realized that I had ordered my boyfriend and my grandma a birthday cake at Coral Reef. I should have just cancelled because the Coral Reef was AWFUL and the birthday cake was not personalized so I now know the restaurant would have not lost any money if we had cancelled last minute...

This day was BY FAR the worst dining day I have ever had a Disney...

Bummer that your grandmother's birthday meal stunk!

Re: CHH--we've done the dining plan several times and never had a problem switching desserts when getting our trays. If you ask then, they'll change it with no problem.

I think their tuna sandwich has crack or something in it. I have to get it every time we go to WDW, and I love it every time. The apple crisp there is also a must-have. You have to get it next time.

So we opted to keep our ressie for 320 at Coral Reef. This was the only reservation I allowed my boyfriend, who had only been to disney one time prior to this trip, make. I made the reservation when we booked our trip, only six weeks prior to us leaving, so many options for dining were already booked so I said okay I will let him pick this one despite bad reviews. Also, one of my friends had traveled to the world a month prior to our trip and dined at the Coral Reef, she said it was the best dining experience on their 10 day trip so my boyfriend's persistence and my friend's review made me keep this reservation. I had a bad feeling about this place even the day of (see above post) but I did not want to change the reservation because I had pre-ordered the birthday cake. So at 320 we arrived at the Coral Reef and after a five to ten minute wait we were seated in a "c" shaped booth away from the aquarium. The atmosphere was relaxing but I honestly expected more of a wow factor from the decor. I would say my boyfriend would agree. We could have tried to get a better view of the aquarium but I didn't want to be a bother to those dining near the aquarium. When our server arrived I asked if any speciality drinks were covered on the dining plan and she seemed a little annoyed but then repeated the menu of speciality drinks allowed on the dining plan. I ordered the Virgin Pina Colada; it was okay but too sweet. For our entrees we both got the NY strip steak. I hade mine cooked to medium well and my boyfriend to medium rare. Honestly the meat just tasted charred. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and thought they were very good but my boyfiend thought that they were just medicore. My grandparents were not too hungry at this time, they had ate breakfast and lunch prior to this experience and just decided to share the appetizer sampler for two. They seeemed to enjoy it but stated the lobster bisque was a little bland. Overall our NY strip steak would get a rating of a 4 out of 10 from Blake and a 6 out of 10 from me but I do not really eat that much steak. For dessert I had ordered a cake for my grandma and Blake's birthdays. They just brought out one birthday button so I told her that we are celebrating two birthdays. She brough out another button for Blake but did not write his name on the button. I had expected more from the cake. It was plainlly decorated and just standard in taste. It was rather large though and would be able to serve 8-10 people at least. The cake was very cold in the middle but edible and I would give the cake a 5 out of 10 but the rest of the table would rate it much higher. Something that really upset me was I had ordered the cake about a week or two in advance for my grandmother but they had put the cake on my grandmother's bill. Instead of making a big issue out of it we just handed my grandma a $20 bill. Now this is where the scary part comes in, even though we had ordered cake since we were on the dining plan we decided to sample some of the desserts. I asked the server what she recommended and she stated the Jack Daniels and Bailey's Mousse. So I ordered the Mousse and my boyfriend decided to try the Chocolate Wave. The Jack Daniel's and Bailey's Mouse was not good at all. It was not edible. In the case that it was just me, I had the table try the dessert. My boyfriend and my grandmother stated the dessert was "nasty" and Blake stated that the dessert tasted like cough syrup. My grandfather would not even try the dessert. My boyfriend stated the chocolate wave was bland and dry but he did enjoy the shorbet.
When leaving the restaurant we had to cross over an area where servers were rushing out of the kitchen and almost ran over us. Three times there was almost an accident running into servers. If you had small children this could be an issue and they may get ran over by a server carrying a large tray of food. All three times when I almost ran into a server I said "Oh, sorry excuse me and not once did the server reply back." They just looked annoyed. Also, this was our most expensive meal at $108 not including the birthday cake or my grandparent's meal.
Overall this experience was horrible and actually put us in a bad mood and the food gave me a headache. After the meal we just decided to head back to the room for the night. At this point I was extremely frustrated and getting tired. I still was not adjusting to the day shift schedule very well (I work nights as a RN) so when we got back to our hotel we decided it would be best if I tried to get on a more afternoon/evening schedule for the rest of the trip so we purchased tickets to MNSSHP. This meant we had to cancel dining plans for Kona and Sanaa, which might have been the best meals of the trip but I wasn't really feeling well at all and I didn't know if it was related to the dining experience at Coral Reef, a change in my schedule, or just being overly exhausted from the parks and running from resort to park to resort. None the less,we decided to cancel Kona and Sanna and add MNSSHP, Tokyo Dining and Boma for breakfast before departure.
I plan on adding pictures of the dining experience but I don't know to add...any tips?

My grandparents stayed the night at All Star Music and we met around 9 am to go to breakfast off site so that we could buy outfits for MNSSHP. We went to Bob Evans and had a nice meal before heading to Target to get our costumes. There wasn't much choices for adult costumes so we went with me as a cop and my boyfriend as a jailbird. The shopping area was very nice and not too crowded. I believe it was about 3 miles from disney on road 192? or 92? I can't remember which exactly . Hehehehe. There was also a Sweet Tomato in the plaza, which is one of my favorites . But was had just ate at Bob Evans, too bad.... The area was very near to Animal Kingdom Lodge, we could see the roof of AKL from Target parking lot.
Anyways...back to dining. After my grandparents left we decided to nap before heading back to Epcot for food, wine and Tokyo Dining. We started off with a drink we had tried the day before and loved, the slushies from France. I had organge and Blake had the Lemon. I also had a shot of Grand Marnier, which went down well and was pretty smooth. Our next stop was Singapore where we tried our favorite beer of the trip, Tiger Beer, which was AWESOME. Our next stop was Germany, were we tried the bread and fondue; which was less than impressive, but we used a snack credit on. At this point, we had 10 snack credits to use so we were okay with the decision to waste one on less than a less than tasty snack . Next, we stopped South Africa and tried Chardonnay. The wine was semi-dry but went down fine. We made a b-line to South Korea to try one of my favorite food Bulgolgi. My boyfriend liked but I was very disappointed. I love Bulgolgi and often make it at home. During college, I had the opportunity to try some authenic Bulgolgi from a group of nursing exchange students. This bulgolgi did not compare to their homemade goodness . The kim-chi was good, it was our favorite snack but was very spicy. So avoid the kim-chi if you don't like spicy. Aftern South Korea, we stopped in the Carribean and tried a berry colada. The drink was GREAT, even better than the orange slushies. Next, we headed to Australia and tried the Mosciato. This was our favority wine, it was nice and sweet . It would be a great dessert wine or would be great alone without food. We made a stop at Canada to try a snack and a beer. We were disappointed at this stop. I guess the cheese soup is not as good outside in the hot weather as it is inside the Le Cellier restaurant. Also, the Moose Head Beer was nothing to write home about. The beer was our least favorite beer on our tour around the world. We walked a half lap around the World Showcase before stopping in America for a coke and Jim Beam and Lemonade slushie. The Jim Beam and Lemonade slushie was very good. Next we headed to Tokyo Dining for our dinner reservation....

Overall, we recommend the Orange or Lemon slushie in France, the Grand Marnier shot in France, the Tiger Beer in Singapore, the Berry Colada in the carribean, the Mociato in Australia and the Jim Beam Lemonade in America.

I really hope I learn how to add pictures because I have some good ones from our experience at Tokyo Dining!

After snacking and drinking we headed over to Tokyo Dining around 455 for our 520 ressie. The line seemed long so we figured we wouldn't get in early but we did and we were seated around 5:05. Our table was near the window and we had a BEAUTIFUL view. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I started off with the salad with ginger dressing. The salad was standard but the ginger dressing was very good. I also had the iced green tea with no sugar which was sooo yummy . This drink made my trip. My boyfriend just had the same ol same ol coke. For entrees we I ordered the Fuji bento box. The entree was good. The Fuji bento box comes with rice, a steak dish, California rolls, tuna, salmon, and planko breaded veggies. The sushi and the fried veggies were better than what I could get at the local Japanese restaurant. The sushi tasted fresh and all the flavors came together well. In the past, I have had planko breaded items that were very greasy. The fried items were well prepared and not too greasy. The only item I did not care for was the steak, which was a little on the tough and dry side. Blake went for the fish but I don't remember which one; I think the rainbow trout???? Anyways, he loved his choice of entree. For dessert, we both had the ginger cake and loved it! This was one of our favorite desserts from the entire trip! If there was any downfall to the ginger cake it was that the cake has a bit too much ginger and the ginger may be a bit overpowering for some. Overall, Tokyo Dining was great! The atmosphere was nice, out table was beautiful, the staff was friendly and the food was good. We hope to return someday! Overall we give Tokyo Dining a 8 out of 10. I would give the salad a 8 out of 10, green tea a 10 out of 10, my entree a 7 out of 10, and we both give the ginger cake a 9 out of 10!
