So, we are on our way down for just a few days 12/14-17. I've been to Disney Fla so many times, and I've never felt ripped off or that I've never gotten my money's worth. But this time, I really feel kinda mad about the whole Xmas party thing.

It's bad enough that disney prices on everthing is so high (hotels, tix, etc.), but to charge another $40 a person for a christmas "party" is unbelievable. My family just really wants to see the parade, and it just seems a bit much to shell out more money for this event.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Is there any way to get discounted tickets to this thing? princess:

To my knowledge there is no way to get a discount, but someone may know more than I do :teeth: We've gone to MVMCP every time we've been there for Christmas and it's so much fun! I know it seems like a lot of money but it's nice to ride a lot of the rides without lines, getting Christmas pictures taken as a family, the snow on Main Street, the hot cocoa and cookies and then the fabulous parade ( I can see the Nutcracker soldiers marching!) I think it's a lot of fun and well worth the extra money, you should give it a shot! :thumbsup2

Welcome to The DIS too!!! :grouphug:

you're going December 14-17? well first of all, i'll be there! from the 13th to the 17th!

i went to MVMCP once, and i think it was enough for me, really. certain rides are open, and you get one whole free cookie and cup of hot cocoa.......wow....can they spare it? not like they're a multi-million dollar corporation or anything.

and i'm not a big fan of snow. i get quite enough of it here in NY, i don't want to see "fake" snow when i'm on vacation in Florida lol.

there's a lot of other things i like to do there during the holidays that are just as fun, if not better, and most of the time they're free.

the Boardwalk has beautiful decorations and their lobby is gorgeous during the holidays. and the Grand Floridian has that cute Ginger Bread house in it, and they usually have carolers or some kind of musical act playing.

We were planning on going (went to MNSSHP and had a good time) but in the end it was an extra $85 (DD is still 2) that I didn't really need to spend. We have AP so we will still be visiting the parks, and see the lights/decorations but will skip the party this year. Really we will only be missing the snow, cookies, and parade.

We are however definately going to the pirates & princesses party as I think that would be worth the extra money.

I agree with this! I've never been to the MVMCP before, but I've heard a lot of people totally love it. I HAVE been to the MNSSHP before and I would go back in a second if I could. It sounds like the CP--no waits for rides (we got to ride Splash Mountain TOTALLY by ourselves last year), cool things happening in the park, a great atmosphere. I think you should go for it if you can. :)

You're right, it is a lot of money, esp. for a family of four. But the two times that we have been, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is an absolutely magical evening. We'll be going again this Dec.

There are some discounts for specific nights.

There's a $6 discount on advanced purchases for: November 13, 17, 27, 28, 30 and December 4, 5, 7, 11, 12, 14

AP holders and DVC Members get 10% discount for November 13, 17, 28 and December 14

First off "it's bad enough that disney prices on everything is so high" You can go to a 2 hour concert and spend $100.00+ per person or spend a WHOLE day at Disney for less than that.
If you feel that the extra cost is to much for a parade then watch it when it comes on TV.....of course they do the filming during the day which is not half as neat as the atmosphere at night and being there in person.
MVMCP is much more than a parade..........with a limited amount of tickets sold for each evening it means you can actually do more rides and take in the shows and also WATCH a great parade and a "special fireworks display" I am a passholder and always FORK over the extra money for the MVMCP and have since the beginning,

Its Disney World. You have to expect high prices. That's why we start saving the day we get to the resort. :santa:

I'm going Dec 13th- 17th

We have booked MVMCP for Dec 14th. :teeth:

Last year was the first one we had attended and we had a blast. There were no crowds, and no lines at MVMCP, which is the way I like it :thumbsup2

The atmosphere was a great way to really get into that xmas spirit. :santa:

As far as the price, I think it was well worth it. $39.95, compared to $67.00 for the regular park ticket was a bargain.

It's definitely worth the money :thumbsup2

We're going on December 21st for the third year in a row!!

The first year, we were in MK for my birthday and Dad saw the signs for the party. When we went to City Hall for my birthday dinner reservation he asked the CM about it. Next thing I knew, we had tickets! Even tho I love Disney, I knew very little about the party. What a great time!! Snow on Main Street, special shows, a Great parade and fireworks-and free cocoa and cookies!!

I can't wait to do it again!
