I will have a 2.5 and 6.5 year old. We are going on the Disney cruise Dec. 5-9 then going to DW Dec. 9-13 (silver plan so I will have unlimited access to the parks during normal hours.) I was wondering if Mickey's very merry Christmas is worth the extra money and less sleep. I am instrested in short lines more then the parades and snow I live in Chicago and see enough of that. Are the lines shorter? My choice in Dates are Thursday Dec. 9 Fri 10th and Sunday 12th which is the best day to go? I don't have a problem with letting the kids sleep in a little later the next morning if mickey's very merry christmas is worth it. Do you think we will be to tired to go back to magic kingdom anyway? Has anyone done this before I would appreciate any help I can get.

The lines for rides are practically non existant- especially during the parade times.. Going on a week night is always better then going on a weekend night.

Funny, I was just planning my Christams Trip and yes we will be going to MVMCP and the parade is the main reason we will be attending there is just something about those Wooden Soilders Marching down Main Street.

As to it being crowded yes the closer you get to Christmas it can be very crowed but your dates should be fine I would go on Thursday Dec. 9. It is worth the additional cost. ::yes::

What does MVMCP all include? It seems pretty expensive for a few extra hours. What makes it so special and why is it worth the extra money?

Here's info we have at the DIS about MVMCP http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/mvmcp.htm

Personally I think it's worth the money.I've always gone at the beginning of Dec.The MK not being crowded and walk ons on many of the rides, the parade, the shows, the fireworks...I think it's worth every penny!

I will also be on your cruise(doing Mousefest)and also doing the land portion after cruise. I did MVMCP last year and plan on repeating it this year(maybe twice)so yes it's worth it and i don't even have kids. We went on a Thurs.and found it to be a good time also your most likely going to need to see the first parade so stake out your spots early if you choose to go. Also get there early as you can get in about 4 pm with your MVMCP party ticket and after the regular guest leave they will keep party guest in Fantasyland and Tommorrowland. I hope you have a fun time as i know i will.

Thanks everyone for your help I will definately be getting these tickets. I think I will go on Sunday only because I don't want my kids to think that the rest of the weekend will be as line free and Sunday is our last night there. I don't want to get thier hopes up! Does anyone have complaints on going on Sunday instead of Thursday?
mhelsley-I was beginning to think I was the only one going to be on the cruise! and then to find somebody doing the land portion after the cruise too, that just doesn't happen!

I have never been during Christmas time and after our first trip ever over this past Easter break, I would love to look at Disney during a much slower time. We are planning Nov. 30 - Dec. 5. and I was wondering how the MVMCP was during that time? (Thinking about December 2nd.) The unofficial guide really didn't give it a great write up. Also, when do advance tickets go on sale?

Thanks

I come from an area that gets snow, and believe me, I HATE snow.

That said, "snow" on Main Street, at MVMCP is absolutely enchanting.
The "snow" never even sticks to the ground.

Yes - I think MVMCP is well worth it. I don't have children, but I think it would be difficult with tired, maybe crabby, small children.
Make sure everyone is well rested
before going.

I thought the Sunday night MVMCP was almost like a week night party.
It was not too crowded. Just avoid the Friday party, and you will be all set.

We are going this year ...can't wait...

Kristen,
My only thoughts are that by going on your last date if the weather is really bad and the parade is washed out you have lost your chance to enjoy that. Last year when I went I planned it for my first chance in case I needed to move my dates.

padisneylover-

That is a good thaught thanks! What happens when it is rained out. Do you lose your money if you prepaid for tickets or can you use them for another day?

We took Isabella (then 4.5) just a few weeks after she came to live with us. We had a trip planned and just added her on. MVMCP was the most magical time. The parade was fantastic, the characters in costume were so much fun, the shows were amazing. Isabella was chosen to be in the Christmas play with Belle and it was so wonderful. Belle and Miss Karen chose to spend extra time with Isabella, they took her to meet the other princesses, rode on Cinderella's Carousel with her and then Miss Karen took us to a special spot to view the parade. It was magic.

But even without the special treatment we would have had a fabulous time. We specially loved watching Rudolph fly.

I concur with padisneylover that you might want to get tickets for Thursday as it will probably be least crowded and you'll have a backup night (Sunday) if it rains.

For us it's a must do if and when we ever get back to 'the World' during the holiday season.

I'm guessing you're going to LOVE it!::yes:: :thewave:

We took our DD's (ages 1, 4, 6) to MVMCP for the first time a couple years ago and it was the highlight of the trip for them. We made PS reservations at the LTT for a character dinner at 6:30 that same night (we were able to get into the park early due to the ressies). It's a great opportunity to get on ALL the rides -- as stated above, the lines were non-existent...except for the line to the free family Christmas photo. LOL.

My girls were mesmerized by the parade -- and there were characters galore who spent a ton of time with the guests. Also - since many of the parks -- except EPCOT -- close earlier this time of year during weeknights, it was great having a park to visit at night (we're not a DD family).

If the money isn't too much of a factor for you, I would recommend going for it. Granted, you're getting a lot of what you'd get during normal MK hours -- but you're also getting less crowds, a longer day/night at MK + all the holiday extras done Disney-style. MK all lit up for the holidays is absolutely spectacular.

Good luck to you -- have a great time on your vacation!!!

Tweetie we just went during that same time frame this past year. Lines were very short if any, although my DW thought that it was somewhat crowded. I think it was due in part that we were dealing with strollers more than anything.

Stay away from Friday and Saturday nights if at all possible, and have a back-up date in mind in case it rains. In other words, don't plan MVMCP on your last day at WDW, otherwise I don't know what they'll do regarding your money.

It is really a holiday pick me up. Wish we were going back to do it this year but APs unfortunately will run out beforehand, so we're doing early November this year
