You are posting in the right place.

You'll find a lot of varied opinions about MVMCP.
If your daughter likes Christmas decorations and meeting Disney characters,
plus, a special Christmas parade and fireworks, the party can certainly be fun.

:welcome: to the DISboards, jha!

We did the Christmas Party this past Dec. & we enjoyed it. The Christmas decorations are the same so even if you don't go to the Party, you will get to enjoy all the Xmas decor EXCEPT for the snow fall on Main Street & the Holiday version of Wishes.

As for meeting Characters that was the best part of the Xmas party & really what you are paying for. The Xmas party has exclusive Characters you can only meet at the Party - for examples all the Princes meet with their Princess & ALL 7 dwarfs with Cmas hats & scarfs! Jack Sparrow, Scrooge McDuck, the Mary Poppins penguins were only out during the Party. Also, some of the characters meet with special winter clothes like Daisy, Donald, Peter Pan & Wendy (had holiday scarfs), All 4 from the Pooh gang (with scarves), etc. :santa:

Some characters you can still get in holiday clothes without going to the party. Santa goofy & Pluto with his jingle bell collar, Phineas & Ferb with Santa hats, and holiday Pooh & Tigger are available at Hollywood Studios & Animal Kingdom.

It is alot of money, but it can be fun to do if you enjoy meeting certain characters & want to see the snow falling on Main Street. The holiday parade was also alot of fun with the wooden soldiers & they gave out free hot chocolate & cookies.

agreed the party is great - loads of fun - special parade and best of all - to us anyway - special characters. All of that said you should think about how well your child does staying up late - the party runs until midnight. Naturally you can leave early and many do but you don't want to leave too early so it can be tough. I know our child (now 14) has gotten too tired (she's an early to bed early to rise child) at the parties.

How's the parade? Anyone done both MVMCP and MNSSHP? Which did you prefer?

Whenever this question is asked, the consistent response from the collective here is that MNSSHP is "better". That isn't to say that MVMCP isn't enjoyable too, though.

Agreed characters normally not see there. That is the big draw. That is why we went. Also free hot chocolate and cookies. Funny stitch show near SM. We will be going again this year. Also the tickets I believe say 7, but from disboard found out could get in early so went in at 4pm. Basically half day at the park. Had a relaxing day at resort.

I think it is worth it. We have been twice. I love the "snow" on Main Street and the parade. The hot chocolate and cookie stations make it nice too. There are several "dance parties" with the characters as well. One of the best things is short lines for rides!!! Here is something that we did before having Annual passes. We would not buy park tickets for that day and just hang at the resort or go to Downtown Disney. Even though the party starts at 7:00 you are allowed to enter the MK at 4:00 with your party tickets. That always helped me justify the cost a little more. Have a great trip, the holidays are a wonderful time to visit!

We went to the Christmas party in December and really liked it. We avoided the crowds on Main Street. The parade is worth it. If your DD likes princesses and princes, you get to meet some of the princes. We got to see the 7 dwarves as well. There is also other characters normally not out like Abu and Genie. She is at a good age too. The party was wasted on our 4 year old who fell asleep after a few hours.

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. We loved the MNSSHP parade! And the party in general.

Does anyone know when it's likely to find out the dates of the MVMCP?

We've never been able to do Disney at the holidays, but I just found out that we will be in Orlando over the weekend of November 14 for a reunion. I know all of the decorations won't be up, but was wondering if it's likely that I'll be able to go to the MVMCP?

Thanks.

MNSSHP is better in my opinion. But I still love MVMCP also. I love the Christmas parade and it's the only way to really see it before Christmas week. I DO think it can be a big expense though for what you get, especially with kids (mine are always ready to go after the fireworks). We have been lucky and used the military tickets the last few times. This year I'm going twice hopefully (without kids!).

The party normally starts around the 7th of November..The party should be happening about that time..Check last years dates..they shouls be pretty close..

We attended the November 14th party last year and enjoyed it. It was me and my husband.

We arrived early and the park was very crowded and crazy. We ducked into Pinocchio's and had an early dinner until the crowds calmed down. After that it seemed things go ta little better.

Rides were very easy to get on. Little or no waits for most of the night. The fireworks show was very pretty and the parade was excellent.

It was fun to walk around and hear the Christmas music while sipping hot chocolate.

We really did not attend any of the shows. It was are only day at MK as we were at Universal for the week but i wanted to see MK at Christmas.

We loved it ! Best parade I have ever seen. The light show on the castle and the fireworks were amazing. I would do it again in a heart beat !

If your daughter loves Christmas, then you really do need to do MVMCP at least once in her life. I still say my favorite WDW experience is sitting on Main Street watching the toy soldiers march by. :goodvibes

The soldiers are my favorite too and I absolutely love your picture of them.

We love both MVMCP and MSSHP. I never thought I would say we liked MSSHP better, but after going we do. A large part of that is probably because a large number of the guests are in costume and it is really fun to see what everyone is wearing.

I love Christmas too and we actually usually wind up going to MVMCP more than once on our trips. I love the parade and the Character show at the castle. The light show on the castle where they make the whole thing look like it is made out of Gingerbread is neat too, as are the Christmas fireworks. The snow on Main Street is always fun. DD(8) has always loved meeting the characters. Some of them are in Christmas clothes at the party and there are some you can only meet at the party. If your DD still likes the Princesses (mine does), the parties are the only time the Princes appear with their Princesses at Fairy Tale Hall. The parties are currently the only time you can meet Flynn Rider, Prince Phillip and Snow White's Prince. You can catch Prince Charming at 1900 Park Fare Dinner, so he is meetable- but the party is the only place you can take your picture with Cinderella and her Prince together (at 1900 they come by separately). It really is a fun party.

Thank you! :goodvibes

We've done both parties and love them both. We just usually end up there in December because I tolerate cold better than heat. And it fits our schedule better.

We did swap to DLR this past year though. I think I'm the only person on the planet who really wants DLR to start a Christmas party. :)

I was in awe when watching the soliders, the way they stayed in beat was awesome. That was one of my favorite parts of the parade. It had to take a lot of practice to be as good as they were.
