My DD and I are heading to back to The World for a mini vacation Dec 9-13. This will be our first Christmas @ Disney experience.

Are we missing a lot if we don't go to MVMCP?

Any comments are appreciated

We went last year in November and I would say that you are not really missing a lot. Unless you are such a super Disney fan that you watch their Christmas Day Parade because that is the parade that they have at the Christmas Party. There were some adults around us that were crying as they watched the parade and a couple of adults even pushed children out of the way so they could have front row view. I had never seen such a thing before but I thought - wow, the Christmas parade sure is a big deal to them.

The cookies, apple slices, apple cider and hot chocolate were nice but I don't think they are worth the cost of the party ticket. We found the party to be quite crowded so were not able to do a lot of rides as the standby lines seemed to be 30 - 45 minutes for pretty much everything even "It's a Small World".

You will find the same decorations in the park so the only thing that you won't see is the Christmas Parade which you can probably see better on TV when you get back.:rotfl: And the fireworks were awesome but they always are.

We are going again this November :woohoo: but are not doing the party again. Once was good enough for us. I hope that helps.

Have a wonderful trip!:)

MNSSHP is better, in my opinion, then MVMCP. As for whether or not MVMCP is worth the price ... only you can really decide. I think it is worth it because it's a "special event" that we would not get to do any other time of the year and it adds enough "extra" to the holiday season that I don't mind the extra expense. However, many others don't feel that way (everyone's different). Certainly, the "freebies" aren't worth it. You can get cookies and hot chocolate by the bucket for the price of a ticket.

I wouldn't expect any real wait times at the time you're going. The parks should be pretty empty Dec 9-13 even during MVMCP ... unless a lot of locals go.

that is great info... thanks to you both. Perhaps I will leave it for now and see what the budget says as we get closer... although the fact that we never go at this time of year kind of makes me want to experience all I can

:confused3

We especially appreciate the parties like this when we are limited on the number of park days we have left on our tickets. ie if I were on a package and my park tickets were already included, I probably wouldn't do that particular party again ... but if I were going for a week and had only 4 days left of my park tickets and buying tickets to the party got me that "extra" night at MK, then it would be worth it for me ... make sense? It's definitely not as good as MNSSHP or the old Pirate and Princess party. And if you buy those tickets, you can enter MK at 4PM ... you don't have to wait until 7PM when the party officially starts!

Is the $55.00 admission for MVMCP worth it? Probally not.

Will you enjoy it ? Yes you will.

We always go when we are there in december as it just gets you into the Christmas spirit. You can enter the park after 4, you get to see special shows that are on only during the Christmas week. The parade at night time is so magical and the special fireworks make it for one great night.

We went last year. Would we go again? Probably, in a few years but not every year. I suggest going and seeing for yourself. You will certainly enjoy it and then you can decide for yourself for next time. :)

We also went last year...2 times :) We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the ability to take our time. There weren't long lines on either night (16th and 19th) except for Dumbo was about 10 minutes and POTC was about a 20 minute wait. Everything else was pretty much a walk-on. The fireworks were definitely the best and even though we're from Minnesota, it was pretty fun to see it "snow" in Florida. We're going again this Nov/Dec and are still debating whether to do it again. Fyi, you can always buy your tickets down there. We bought ours the day before each party...they will usually sell out the day of the party.

:dance3:We are going Dec 9th till Dec 15th. We were also undecided about
paying that price but decided we would splurge it is not something we
would do all the time. The last time we were at Disney for xmas
was 28 years go so there is alot more to see this time around for all of the decorations. We always go in May so this will be our second trip back this year.:dance3:

That's funny because I have decided to splurge on the Party as well... and if you check my signature, we also always go in the Spring...usually in late April and it will be our second trip this year too! :thumbsup2

We were also at Pop. Last Week of May first week of June. We will be staying
at Pop this December. We thought of Upgrading but for the amount of time
we spend at the resort it was not worth it.:cool1:

I wouldn't say that you are "missing" anything per say if you don't go to the party, but one way of looking at it is asking yourself if you are going to get there and wish that you were going to the party?

We went to MVMCP in 2008, and have tickets to return this December. We travel to Disney frequently, so being able to do something that we don't get to do during our summer vacations for example is a definite plus. Also, we can't typically travel when school is in since I work for a school board, but since I am off on maternity leave we are maximizing being able to enjoy going during times that we normally wouldn't be able to. If you don't normally travel to Disney World during the holiday season then I would recommend going to the party. If this is the time that you normally go, then perhaps skip it this year and maybe consider it for a future trip?

When we went in 2008 I must admit that we were disappointed when the "special event" parade became the normal parade the day after we attended the party (we went on the last night it was offered). To me the park feels different during these parties. The dance parties with the characters are neat too.

Good luck with your decision.

when we went a few years ago, I enjoyed every minute of it. Though we went the day we arrived and left right after the fire works.

I would go again in a heart beat, even though we joked about getting our $50 cookie.

We were able to get on Dumbo with only a 5 minute wait. and having it snow on mainstreet was fun.

We are going to be there Dec 9th -14th. I decided to do MVMCP but it is only my DD and going this time for her B-day. If it was all 5 of us going I don't know if I would have spent the money. We have done both MNSSHP and A Pirate and Princess Party (loved them both). Here's hoping we love MVMCP just as much!
