My girlfriend and I drove up Monday afternoon for three nights at (my favorite resort) The Yacht Club and two days in Epcot eating and drinking. We are both older, and have been up to the World so many times we lost count.

She picked me up at about eleven thirty where I live in West Palm Beach (she lives in Tamarac which is just west of Fort Lauderdale). We always start getting excited when we get off the Turnpike and onto Osceola Parkway. The excitement ramps up when we take what we call the first ride at Disney World, the bridge that bounces the car just east of the toll booth. And then we drive under the arch and it begins!

We drive to The Yacht Club and she parks the car while I check in. We decide to use the bell services this time. We get to the room and all unpacked and ready to go!

It's become our tradition (starting two trips ago) to spend the first afternoon at the Tamba Bar at the Polynesian. We lucked out because the first bus was for the Magic Kingdom. We lucked out even more because it was like four in the afternoon, we were the only ones on the bus, and the driver dropped us off right at the Polynesian! Saved us a monorail trip.

We know what we are going to drink - Zombies! Our first time at the bar we barely felt any alcohol from the drinks, so the second time we asked the bartender what the strongest drink was. We like to sit there in the lobby and watch everyone gather for O'hana's and wait for the waiters to shout "A-LOHHHH-HA!"

We had four Zombies each I think and then we walked over to the Kona Café for dinner. Judy likes the sticky wings. I don't remember exactly what we had but we needed boxes.

Back to the hotel room for our first night of sleep after watching some TV.

I am not a morning person so we got up late, and had the weak in-room coffee and muffins we had brought for breakfast, and finally left the room about eleven. We love the Yacht and Beach Clubs because we can walk to Epcot. Off we go and start in on the Food and Wine Festival.

Unfortunately we decided to drive up to Disney during record hot temperatures in Orlando. Unlike last year where went to almost all the food stops in one day, that Tuesday we got stuffed and tired much sooner than we expected. We plod back to the room barely able to walk from the heat, sun, and humidity. The glass jar of ice water near the elevators was a godsend! We had two cups each before heading to the room. We struggle into our bathing suits and go to the pool.

Finally we are cooled off. Back to the room. I shower and Judy takes a nap. We aren't sure what we are going to do that evening, so we decide to hit the food stops we missed earlier. We got back into Epcot about six thirty and thought we could stay until Illuminations. Wrong! It was still too hot and we were still too tired. So back to the room. So I got to see the Rocky Horror Glee Show when it was on even though we were up at Disney.

Wednesday morning we get up relatively late again, but no muffins this time. Back we go to Epcot and start from the other direction (France first) this time. We have to pace ourselves because we have lunch at Germany at twenty to three. So we hit the other food stops until we are stuffed, then struggle to Germany just to sit for a while before lunch. We sat on a bench right next to a spot on the Kim Possible game, so several groups of kids and parents came by, listened to the phone, then activated the surprise.

It's time for lunch at Germany again! We love the fresh beer and all the wurst and the oompah band. I make it a point to go to Germany for lunch and not dinner because I love the Münscher Weisswurst (Bavarian Veal Sausage) and it is not served after noon in the real Germany (our waiter noticed I had had three of them and mentioned this to us), and not served for dinner at Epcot Germany.

Finally lunch is done and we stumble back to the hotel room. Again we hit the pool but we have to stay there until almost six to get totally cooled off. Back in our hotel room we realize that we are too stuffed and burnt to consider doing anything except relax in the room. Later on we eat the leftovers from Monday night's dinner.

We get up earlier this morning so we can get packed before breakfast at The Captain's Grille. Have to say this wasn't as good as it could have been. They had run out of butter, and Judy had to tell me where the bread pudding was. There was some confusion where to seat us even though the place was half full.

Back to the room to finish packing. Again we were lazy and had the bellman take our stuff to the curb to put it into the car. Finally we are heading west on Osceola Parkway, and then south on the Turnpike.

So that was this year's Food and Wine. We had a lot of the frozen drinks, and maybe half the food we were planning to have because it was so hot. Unfortunately we don't have another trip planned yet but hope to go back up next spring for the Flower Festival.

Sorry no pictures, but it was too hot to carry the camera around.

Thanks for the report. Just wanted to add that I love your screen name. Brought back memories of shopping on Fulton Street in Brooklyn as a kid.

I shopped at the one in Flushing and the one where the Cross Island meets Union Turnpike. ( :
