We are going to Disney World Oc.t 30- Nov 5. We were considering going to the Halloween party at Magic Kingdom. It would cost my family approx. $125.00 for 5 hours. Is it worth it?? If we don't go, could we have the kids trick or treat around our resort area (Boardwalks) instead so they don't miss it like last year?? Any advice?

Personally, I think MNSSHP is incredible. It can be a bit crowded when it sells out (Halloween usually sells out). However, the theming and atmosphere are really great. I wouldn't go w/ trick or treating as the main objective though. You'd be greatly disappointed in it then. There is a thread at the top of this board w/ all sorts of MNSSHP info that might help you make up your mind.

We've done MNSSHP twice, and really enjoyed it both times. Both times we went, it wasn't really crowded and we were able to do a lot of rides, but it wasn't a sold out night either of the times we went. We also really enjoyed seeing the MK with all the Halloween decorations.

We just went this past year on Halloween, sold out. It was not crowded at all! Walked right on the rides! We had a blast!!!

We've done MNSSHP on 10/31 in both 2000 & 2003.

We were able to get on nearly as many rides at the party as we did in a full day at MK later in the trip. So we've considered it an extra MK day at a discounted rate, plus you get a great parade, different fireworks display, costumes, great "spooky" atmosphere, and trick or treating. However, I agree with the earlier post recommending that you not go to MNSSHP making trick or treating your priority. There is plenty of candy available, but if I'm at MK, I'd rather wait in line for an attraction rather than a tiny bag of M&Ms and a Tootsie Roll!

Also, get there early (4:30ish). You can get on a lot of rides when the regular guests are leaving the park.

Tip if you do decide to go... make the kids get up early, go swimming or something, then make them take a long nap around noon.

Last year I made the mistake of getting my son up at 7am, hitting AK, MGM, EPCOT, and then heading to the party. Poor guy was barely able to keep his eyes open long enough to see the headless horseman ride by (Personally, seeing the expression on your kids faces when he does is enough to justify the cost). That's all he talked about for months.

Cute picture, but I bet he won't like it when he brings home a date!

We did the Halloween Party a few years ago. I felt it was a great value. We were able to do rides over and over sometimes without even getting off in between. It was better than an E-Night. We all had a great time. The special villian parade was wonderful.

I think $125 for a family of five for four hours of fun is a good deal. Think about it.... you could spend that much on a dinner that is only an hour long.
