Good morning,

I just got tickets to this event for our trip in October. I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences from attending so I know what to "be on the lookout for". I'll be bringing my 3 yo grandson in costume, so if there are any areas that maybe too scary for that age, I'd also appreciate hearing abou those.

Thanks,

Donna C.

I think your grandson will love it as well as you! We have a blast every year during the party and think it is the best event Disney has for kids and adults alike. My little girl went when she was 2 and 3 and now will be going at age 4. She is a scaredy cat at some things like loud noises and dark but nothing bothered her at MNSSHP. Everything was done really cute and childlike. There wasn't anyone jumping out at you or trying to scare you. Hence it being a Not So Scary Halloween Party! They sell trick or treat buckets as soon as you get in the parks and they are only $5 and worth it. One year they had hard plastic orange jack o lantern Mickey's complete with ears. Last year was a fabric one that collapses and had different characters on them. They make a nice souvenier. There is a really cute parade that has all the characters dressed up and the headless horseman rides by on a horse but again, not scary. The fireworks held during the parties are better then the regular fireworks. They are perimeter ones that surround the entire park. I don't know if your grandson is frightened of certain rides though. Emma doesn't like Pirates of the Caribbean so she would be scared of that no matter if it were MNSSHP or not. The party itself it not scary at all. Have fun!:D

Thank you so much for the input. I was a little nervous about the Headless Horseman, because Christian can be very timid about "creatures" and loud sounds, although he just loves fireworks, so that will be a real treat for him. I think I'll start to prepare him a week or two ahead of time about what to expect now that I have a bit more info...he does much better if he knows what's coming...LOL. Like your DD he also hates the Pirates ride and was terrified when we took him on in March, and the Tough to be a Bug show was almost his un-doing, poor thing.

Again, thank you so much for the info. I am so looking forward to participating. Now, to plan his costume;)

The headless horseman happens at the beginning of the parade and it happens so fast I doubt very much your grandson will even realize what's happened!!!

We could barely see him where we stood cause it's so dark out...

It's SO much fun for kids with nothing really scary so I wouldn't worry about that. Just certain rides can be scary to certain kids...like my 3 year old DD!!

After reading the reviews of MNSSHP, I'm now super-excited about going!!!!

You can arrive at the MK a couple hours early with your MNSSHP ticket and they will let you in with a wrist band.

You can then ride some rides as the daily park visitors are leaving. About 1/2 before the party starts, you will be directed to Tomorrowland and you can ride Buzz and other rides wth little to no wait!

Be sure to get seats by the Liberty Bell and Liberty Square for the first parade and you will get a great view of the Headless Horseman and the Haunted Mansion (lit up in green)! It really adds to the atmosphere.

HAVE FUN!! We will also be there in October for our 3rd straigth time
