Hi everyone
Just wondering if anyone has ever been to Mickey's Not-So Scary Halloween Party. We're planning on going and would just like to know what it is like. Anything will help. thnx

awesome...we went last year.

No lines at any ride.
Cool weather.
Not too crowded.
All the candy stations were the same, thus, just go a few times.
The included photo was a nice bonus.
Not as scary as Universal.
They let us in about 1 hour earlier than posted.

hi there. I don't know much more than what they told me when I paid for my tickets. We will be there sept 18-24 and the 22nd is the night of that week that they will have that party. What I was told was that the park will close at 7pm and only the ones with the tickets to the event can stay in. Not even resort guest just ones that have that ticket. There will be two halloween parades. The restaurants will stay open for us. The characters will have special halloween customes on. The kids dress up in costume and get candy all over the park. Also on disney's website they explain it a little more. Just type in Mickeys NSSHP and it will come up. I have heard from alot of people that the kids have so much fun. The park is not crowded so no lines on rides and they will have a special meet and great area for the kids and the characters. And at the end of the night they will have a special firework show just for us.

Hope this helps. Have fun we plan to. :cool1:

Our 1st this year too.:Pinkbounc

If it's anything @ all like MVMCP, it'll be great.

BTW, they usually let party ticket holders in around 4:00 p.m., so you can get a "head start" on riding, etc. w/o using a regular park tix.

If you want to make TS res., they do go quickly...I had to settle for a later seating that I wanted @ LTT the day the tix went on sale.

We did MNSSHP in 2002 & 2004. Wonderful for the kids! (& kids at heart) The first year we didn't costume but 2004, we did. It made it just a little more magic. Yes, you must purchase a seperate ticket. I highly recommend going on a week night vs. a weekend night. The crowds seem thinner. We were able to ride every ride available with NO wait. The trick or treating was fun for our son. The parade was great. They also offered a free 5x7 photo which was a nice perk. We are heading back this year (9/30 - 10/09). Going to MNSSHP on the 2nd and cannot wait! :yay: I have read negative opinions elsewhere but for our family, the MNSSHP only proved to enhance the magic. BTW - we did the MVMCP 2005 - phenomenal! We are trying to budget another trip for this Dec. Don't know if we can swing two back to back trips but are hopeful. Have a great time! Oh, and costume! pirate: princess: :joker: You will be glad you did.

We have been 3 times. Brilliant evening. We ALL dressed up, I think everything has been said no lines lots of candy free photo etc, We went in just after 4pm last year and because we were in early we were picked out to be part of the parade on the little double decker bus. Sat on top deck waving to all the crowds with a big spider on my head which was part of my costume.
It is cheaper than a day ticket but you get all the extras and if there for 4pm-12pm you get nearly as long as the day tickets.
We are trying Disneyland for halloween this year dont know what to expect there.

We went last year (2005) and went to the one they held on Halloween night! It was great! The parade and fireworks shows were wonderful!

There weren't terribly long lines and the kids loved trick-or-treating in the park.

Definately magical :)

I'm so excited, I keep telling everyone, if they are planning on going to Disney, go in October!

We are planning to do MK on a day that the Halloween party is at night. Is the park more crowded on the days they offer the party at night or do most people come at night just for the party?
Thanks for the info in advance...

Well, I was there last year from October 28th thru Nov. 5th. Some of the days I spent at MK they had a Halloween party that evening..then we did ours on Halloween night.

I didn't notice any difference in the parks as far as people. It was all pretty easy going. The longest wait times for rides were the smaller kiddie ones, but for the most part, things seem to flow pretty easily.

The only thing that kinda stinks, is on the nights they have a party scheduled..the park closes a bit earlier (sorry I forget HOW much earlier) so you have to leave if you don't have tickets to the party. This didn't seem to affect us at all though. As there isn't a party scheduled each night, you can work around it :)

Have fun for me too! I so wish we could head back this year!

TIPS
jackolanterns.jpg

The first MNSSHP I attended was in 1995 when DS Erich was 2 years old. There were only 3 PARTIES at that time! We've been almost every year since then only missing the Halloween festivities once or twice. We missed last year due to my mothers illness. :( On my various times I've traveled with a toddler,a Senior citizen in an ECV,a large group, just me and my son, Erich,to now with my DH,Joe,and my DSS,Jonathan. So I've learned a few things along the way that I'd like to share with my fellow DISers.

****Baloo's Top Ten Tips****

1.Except for HALLOWEEN NIGHT do not worry about crowds at MNSSHP. There are a limited amount of tickets sold for this event. Disney is very closed mouth about the actual attendance but the rides are very doable. Fantasyland gets a little crowded earlier in the evening but thins out as the night goes on and little ones wear out! I've never waited more than 15 mins in a ride line at on a party night. The Mts are practically WALK ONS! We've ridden Splash Mt. 3 times in a row without leaving our log!

2.The second parade is less crowded.

3.The best trick or treating is in Toontown! There was an area called Alice and the Mad Hatter's Treat Party. Our bags were LOADED after strolling down this path! We weighed our bags and between Erich,Joe and I we had 15 POUNDS of treats!!!

4.Catch some of the bands that perform throughout the MK lands during the night. And don't be shy to get up and shake, shake, shake your bones like a skinny old skeleton or howl like a werewolf!!

5.Try and see "the special guest" that takes over Tinkers Bell's flight before the fireworks begins. The BEST viewing area is on the bridge to Tomorrowland.

6. I'm not sure he's still there but in Liberty Square in front of the Liberty Bell about 10 min.s before the parade begins "Mr. Knickerbocker" tells the story of the Headless Horseman. When he finishes his tale, the Headless Horseman begins his gallop through the MK. When the Horseman has ridden the entire parade route, the parade begins!

7. Don't feel silly if you're a grown up and want to dress up! Wearing a costume, is part of the Halloween fun!

8. Make sure your costumes are COMFORTABLE and EASY to get around in. You'll be getting on and off rides and do not want anything that is cumbersome.

9.Take time to really LOOK at all the wonderful Halloween decorations throughout the MK especially while strolling down Main Street. You never know where you might see a giant spider crawling atop of a building.Corn stalks and jack o' lanterns and over sized treat bags set the autumn mood.

10.My biggest tip is the day of the party have a light schedule, take a nap or have some "down time" the afternoon of the party! I can't stress this enough ,especially if you have little ones or Seniors traveling with you! Erich (Jon wasn't able to go) was 11 lthe last year we attended and we still did this.Even if he didn't actually sleep he watched t.v. and rested...Joe and I slept! LOL! You want to be able to stay as late as possible because the later it gets the more the crowd thins out.It seems a lot of people start exiting after the fireworks which is shortly after the first parade.

Have a SPOOKTACULAR good time at MNSSHP 2005!!!

OMG! you guys are AWSOME!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :worship: :thanks: :disrocks:

You will never know how wonderful that "scoop" is you just gave me!

Now can I ask a couple of questions. Were going Oct 5 (already got my tickets hehee) I have ADR at Crystal Palace for 3:45 (can try to change to 3:30, but i think the dinner buffet doesnt start till 3:30 that day)...would you cancel it? Its our only character dinner of the trip (youngest kid is 10 so he really doesnt care) but we heard good things about the food, so thought we'd go for it.

Would you cancel it to show up at 3 for the rides? Or do you think getting done with dinner by 5ish will give us plenty of ride time. (its EMH morning, so i figure it will be more crowded then usual, but will start thinning earlier too)..I almost hate to waste my time EATING! (never thought i'd say that sentence)

Second question...were eating breakfast at POR, and not eating again till CP...we figured we would get something to eat very late into the party, or as we leave the party...what time do you think the CS places will close during MNSSHP? I'm a bit afraid of this as i'm sure we'll be hungry again! (keep pizza hut on speed dial just incase hehehe)

Thanks DISER'S REALLY DO ROCK THE CASTLE!!

OH OOPS...one more question LOL!

Out of all those rides, will we have time to ride them all and see everything, and tricker treat etc? Or do we need to pick and choose? Never been to WDW, so i'm a newbie, the family's counting on mwah...ugh.

Out of all those rides which ones are MUST DO'S...we want to enjoy the parades and ofcourse the candy mongering. I'm assuming since we do not have little ones (10 isnt little anymore sigh) that riding rides during the first parade is smarter since crowds will be watching it and leaving afterward? Or vise versa?

I've been to 3 parties so far and I found it difficult to do all the rides and the parade, fireworks and trick or treating as well.

I think you'll need to set priorities and make some kind of a plan and then just enjoy the party.

I focus on the Halloween aspects of the party and then we fit in a couple of rides my kids want to do.

Yes, its probably better to try the rides during one of the parades. The park starts to clear out after the fireworks and during the second parade.

Have fun.
