Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - Worth the $?

My DS12 is willing to dress up as anything Star Wars for the not so scary ur boys may like that

So worth it! We went for the first time last oct. We have done all the holidays and festivities Disney has to offer, this is by far one of my favorites!!!! I would do it again this year but we are already booked for a cruise on the Fantasy. We brought our costumes and did our makeup! It's amazing how trick or treating in MK is something our family will cherish and remember for a long time! We are a avid Disney family!!! 2 thumbs up for the party!!!!!!

Absolutely worth it! Hands down my favorite fireworks display! We went to 2 parties last year and will do 2 this year as well. The exclusive characters are great, the ability walk on rides is awesome, and the parade is the best!!

I hate to pay extra to go to MK when we already have AP but the Halloween party is SO much fun.
I think I liked it better than MVMCP and I am obsessed with Christmas.

The spooky but silly feeling that the park has is really great. The parade is awesome... my DD has been watching it on Youtube since we came home.

There are places for the kids to trick or treat. It is def worth it once.

We enjoyed it, but we would only do it again if we were there for a short trip. We were there for 5 nights and the difference between 4 day tickets and 5 day tickets is only $10 vs the $50+ for MNSSHP. We were glad we waited until the kids were 9 and 7 so they could make it through the 2nd parade. The character lines were long,, most of the candy was wasted, and we were there in Sept with low crowds anyway. The parade and HalloWishes were great, but not worth $200 to us.

My sister, who was with us at MNSSHP, went to MVMCP last year before a cruise and she said that was definitely worth it (she liked the party more and they weren't doing other parks).

We go every year in September and the crowds at the party are not bad at all. It is well worth the money. The kids will love trick or treating in Magic Kingdom, the fireworks are amazing and I think it has the best parade!!! But I LOVE Halloween

I haven't gone yet but am curious if everyone trick or treats or just the children?

We are going this October (looking like Tuesday the 21st). One question I have is about dining that night.

We will be doing something quick service, but my question is....is everything open? Is there anything different?

Are there dates released for this yet this year? I would love to take my kids, but we're only at the World for a few days.

Not "official" dates yet. There are some reports if you google it that show expected dates. We are planning to be at WDW in October and are waiting for the official announcement and tickets to go on sale.

We normally use this day as a resort day. Hang out, take a swim, relax and sleep a little later. Then we head into the party at 4PM to enjoy the evening.

It is worth the cost in our opinion. You get to dress up if you like. They have 2 parades (the best one Disney does in our opinion), special fireworks, Dance parties, meet and greets, trick or treats, villains show and meet up afterwards and all the rides with little to no waits. The headless horseman at the start of the parades is awesome! DD has a picture of him hanging on her wall.:thumbsup2

It's definitely a fun night and gets you on the mood to celebrate Halloween. This will be our 5th party and it his a must when we go in the fall.

No, everything is not open. For CS, either Casey'r or Cosmic Cafe would be your best bets. I think most other locations are closed.

You could make TS reservations as well, but that would mean less party time.

I notice a couple of people mentioning a spooky vibe. I have two children who easily scare -as in, can't handle Haunted Mansion at all even if I'm doing my best to make it silly as we go through it. Is it at all spooky? Or can the spookish things be avoided?

About tickets - do they often sell out for Sept dates? I'd prefer to check the weather before we decide on which date if we go. It would either be a Sunday or Tuesday night in Sept, so not a day when I'd expect lots of locals to go. The Tuesday would probably be our last night there though, so I wouldn't want to risk that day being sold out.

It can be a little spooky at the front gate and around the HM. Other than that, the only other thing is there are some characters in the parade. The one that comes to mind is they have grave diggers with shovels. Not all that scary, but they drag the shovels on the ground and do a short dance where it is loud and the shovels will spark against the ground. My kids never had an issue with it, but that seems the only thing that stood out. There is the parade music and everyone having fun so not scary for our kids.

As far as the front, they play eerie music as you enter and it can seem a little eerie. DD when she was 5 was kind of nervous, but it went away after about 5 minutes and it is only right at the gates. The HM is lit up with cool lights and some music is playing.

Usually the weekend parties are busier and are more likely to sell out. I think the only reports I remember of sell outs were the first night of the party and on weekends as you got closer to Halloween in October. I wouldn't suggest a weekend night if you can avoid it. Weekdays are less crowded and a great time to go.

My family and I will be there on the Oct 30th - 4th of Nov. and I would like to get tickets fort he party but I am wondering how it works. In order for my kids to go trick or treating do I need the tickets and if so do they trick or treat when the party starts? I have never been to the party and wondering how it worked

I'm interested in hearing more about the logistics of how this party works. If it starts at 4pm and you have to pay extra for the party, what happens to the guest that are already in the park during the day? I cannot see Disney kicking them out and only letting the people that pay extra back in? maybe that's what happens.

We generally stay at MK from open till close with our kids and my youngest (8 years old) loves Halloween. I'm very interested in doing this and would value more information on how it all works.

Thanks in advance all.

Yup, no ticket you must leave at 7 pm. Areas of the park will begin to get blocked to those without bands. Restaurants, Stores, Rides even Bathrooms will be blocked. They will slowly move the non-ticket holders to the front and if there are issues they will escort them out. If you are in a restaurant eating and when you are done it's after 7, you will be walked by a CM to the front gate. So if you have no wristband you are not permitted to do anything ... but leave. Their goal is all out before the first parade so they look hard.

If you enter without a regular ticket you can get in at 4 pm with the party ticket and you will be given a wristband. If you are already in the park there are stations to go with your party ticket to get your wristband. The party, trick or treat, special lighting, characters etc all start at 7 but only wristband guests will be permitted to enjoy.

That said it's worth it and one of our favorites. For years we have gone twice each trip!! All adult family and we do wear costumes.

Thank you now I understand what to do. We will most likely be finishing dinner so we will have to go to a place where we can get our wrist band can we get them before the dinner so when we are done we don't have to worry

I have 2 boys and when we go they will be 22 months and 4 1/2 years old. I was worried that some things may scare them during the party. Would you say that it is worth it for young kids? I know we won't be going over near the Haunted Mansion at all because I heard that it is pretty spooky over there, but in general around the park that night and the parade - is it too scary for younger kids?

The parade has creepy things---zombies dancing with shovels and banging the shovels on the ground making sparks (if I remember right)--creepy floats. It is awesome but if you think the kids would be scared around Haunted Mansion I wouldn't go. People are dressed up everywhere and some are creepy also. It's totally worth it if your kids aren't scared of stuff like that.
