Mickey's House or Minnie's House? Do we need to do both?

The kids want to go to Toon Town.......I know the lines for MIckey and Minnie get long.

Is there any reason why we need to tour both houses? I think they would be happy just to do one.

Any preferences on which one is more interesting?

Thanks.

You have to do both to see both. Seems the line for Mickey is much longer but neither were so long a 4 and 7 year old did not want to wait. Mickey even took a water break in middle of our wait. He was back probably as soon as he/she removed head for a few and took fluids. We don't want Mickey to faint now do we.

One thing we did is once we got into house we walked right through house and got back to Mickey asap. After visit with the big cheese kids went back and played in house.

Hope this helps.

If you're sure you would only want to do one, I'd do Mickey's. Minnie's house is pretty, but it's smaller. Mickey's house is bigger and more interactive.

They have pretty different set ups. Minnie's house, you wait in line to get in as you take a picture with Minnie on the front porch. 15-30 minutes is pretty normal for that. After the picture, you can play in the house as long as you want. My DD really likes the house, and has been known to sneak in the back door as she doesn't always care about meeting Minnie :rolleyes1
(please don't flame me). Her kitchen has some really cool stuff for kids.
Mickey's set up is different. You can go in the house, but then you head to the back "studio barn" and meet him at the end. That wait can be easily 60 minutes. It is slightly deceptive, because you can't see the line until you get pretty far in back. There is a lot of stuff to do along the way, and there are the old MM cartoons showing when you get to the final wait area.

If they don't care so much about meeting both Characters, you could wait for Minnie, go through her house, then head to Mickey's. There you can play in the house, and then not head back to meet him. You can go in and out of his house at will. He does have some cool stuff (not quite as interactive as Minnie) to look at. I loved that he had a hotel towel drying on a rack in his Kitchen. I choose to think he paid for it, not swiped it like a lot of other people. :rotfl:

Like DisneyMom said, you don't have to wait to meet the characters if you don't want to. In fact, we often don't even see Minnie in front of her house. I think she's more likely to be there in the morning than the afternoon (from what i've seen). And we will usually go out one of the exit doors at Mickey's house instead of waiting to meet Mickey. If you think you can go without having to meet the characters, or can play it by ear depending on how long the lines are, then I would say go ahead and do both since they won't take that long to walk through and both are cute.

We have never really seen either Mickey or Minnie in front of their houses. You just walk in. They are just fun in that sort of "quick walk thru" sort of way.

We did both rather quickly last Thursday, right after Toontown opened. Both Mickey and Minnie were posing in front of their houses (Mickey without a photopass photographer :sad2:). I barely let my girls play in Minnie's house then, ushering them right on through because I figured the Mickey line would be growing. We then came back later in the (crowded) afternoon and Minnie wasn't to be found at all, while Mickey was back in his barn. The girls spent a lot of time exploring then and we exited Mickey's house without meeting him again.

I don't think we've ever actually seen them inside their houses. Usually we run into mickey/ minnie on main street by the entrance. The houses are fun and I would do both.

That is really the best advice for those that want to see the houses and the characters. Get there as ToonTown opens. Depending on the age of the kids, there is something magical about meeting the characters in their home.

Start with Mickey first (longest line) and then go to Minnie. If you get there later the lines can be pretty long. The line for Minnie is often a little more than half as long (wait time) as the line for Mickey.

We were there on Sunday late afternoon. Minnie was outside her house with a 30 minute wait time. Didn't think my DGD(18mos) would wait nicely. We went in Mickey's house. She loved the washing machine, was fascinated with the shape and the movement. The line for Mickey was only in the studio barn, took maybe 10 minutes at most. It was her first face to face with Mickey. (She usually waits for Minnie on Main Street, loves her) She wasn't sure at first, Mickey won her over and she kept blowing him kisses as we left. I think you need to do both. Everything is kid sized.
