I am going to Mickey's Very Merry Not-So-Scary Halloween party for the first time. I don't really know what to expect or what special events there is going to be. Should I dress up in costume or not? Any advice from people that had been there before would be very helpful!
Thanks! princess:

It's fun. The park closes at 6:00p to get ready and reopens at 7:00p all decorated. There are 2 Halloween parades at about 8:30p and 10:30p and there are special fireworks at 9:15p.

There are trick or treating locations throughout the park. One free family photo at special locations. There are characters out and about in costumes.

It's a lot of fun. Lots of people, adult and kids, dress up in costumes but you don't have to to have fun.

You can enter for the party any time after 4:00p and they will give you a wristband and then you do not have to leave the park when it closes for that hour. They'll just ask you to hang out in one Land for that hour until the park reopens for the party.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

We went last year and loved it! My DH said no way he was not dressing up! I told DS I would dress up and when he asked his Daddy, Please? My husband quickly gave in and went as a pirate. My DS has his Daddy wrapped around his finger, God help me if we have a girl!

we went last year and had a wonderful time. We didn't dress up and didn't feel left out at all. We entered the park at 4pm and had dinner at CP for the last seating at about 6pm so we were ready when the party started at 7.

Can You Go On Rides While Park Is Closed For That Time Period?

Yes, but only the rides that are in the Land they keep party goers in. The rest of the park is closed for that hour so that they can clear out the park of non-party goers and so they can get the park ready. Last year it was Adventureland and Frontierland that were kept open for that hour.

We went last year as well and it was one the best experiences in Disney next to Christmas...dd was in costume and we had silly hats ... Great pics with dressed up chararcters too

Hey all -

I'm also going to MNSSHP for the first time this year and was wondering - is there anywhere to eat during the party (besides Liberty Tree Tavern)? Thanks in advance!

It's a wonderful party, and I would absolutely do it again.

We went this last October with my children 2.5 and 15 months at the time, and my MIL, SIL, and BIL and there three children. Since my children were so little, they weren't interested in the trick or treating. So while my niece and nephew trick-or-treated, we walked on rides in Fantasy Land.

My children were afraid of the parades so we also used that time to go on a few rides.

It's a wonderful experience for all ages, and well worth the cost.

I think Baloo has a wonderful, extremely informative post that she writes out about the party.

I just wanted to add that I had my children in very light costumes. It was in the 90's that night (October 20th), a little unusual from what I understand. But it worked for us. I had two little Peter Pans. We did change clothes halfway through to pj's (again, they are so little , it didn't matter to them).

We've also done it twice and absolutely loved it! My DBro just asked me yesterday if we were doing it this fall when we go! I also dressed my kids lightly which worked out perfect. DH & I didn't want to lug costumes down, but we were festive with glow-in-the-dark halloween tee shirts that we brought just for the party. My favorite part's are the storytellers while waiting for the parade and the headless horseman! I get chills when he rides down the street before the parade!
