I asked this once before, and got very few responses. Now I am actually leaning towards going, so I need more advice. DH and I have been to this once before, and had an OK time (not amazing, not bad). Now we are bringing DD1 for her first time, and I am wondering if I should take her to this. I know she won't grasp the concepts, but it will be more (and different) parades and characters for her to see. We could take advantage of the extra time for the Fantasyland rides, and introduce her to Trick or Treating. I was originally scoffing at spending the extra $ for the tickets, but then I realized that it is only a little more $ than we would pay for an extra character meal (and we have plenty of those booked!) We wouldn't have to pay for a ticket for DD. She is pretty good with schedule changes at this point, so maybe we could have her nap longer in the afternoon. Anybody have any thoughts? Anybody take a 1 year old to this? TIA!

Frannn--we are going this year, our first!, and we are taking all the boys. My youngest is 15 months now. I know he will enjoy seeing the sites. He and my 3 yr old will be dressed up.
Maybe you could hit a park in the am. Go back to the hotel, swim and sleep some then be good and rested for the party.
Looks like you are going the same time we are. We are hitting the 10/10 party. I didnt want to go on a Friday night but it was the only party during our stay.

Although I haven't taken a 1 yr old to MNSSHP, I've taken each of my girls to Disney when they were about that age, and we always stayed at the parks until almost closing!! Again, the afternoon nap plays a big part - and your child being able to sleep in a stroller if she wants.

I don't think it will be a problem - just take it really slow! I'm sure she'll enjoy it! My youngest has been going to MVMCP since she was about 5, and has no problem staying til the end! Have fun!!! We'll be at MNSSHP on Oct 14 - can't wait!!!

Many will say you are crazy and should wait but I'm not one of them!

We have been to MNSSHP and MVMCP parties for the last 3 years. Our DD was ages 1, 2, 3, and she'll be 4 and 5 for the next 2 parties in 2003 and 2004!!!

She had a great time. It's more time at her favorite park! I say if you can get your child to nap, you'll have an even better time!

You may have to do the first parade, though, as my DD did miss 2 out of 3 parades in the last 3 years because we always wait for the 2nd parade of the night and she couldn't make it. But we do video tape it for her and she loves watching it when we get home!

Go for it! Especially since your DD is still free!

We go every year, and started taking DS when he was five months old. We took our family picture early, and then he crashed about the time he would have at home. The next year, when he was old enough to care, we did the early parade, took our picture and then he crashed. Yes, there's a pattern. Last year he was 2 1/2, and he loved the trick or treating and everything about the night. We took our picture early again, but we got tired before he did.

Yes, some people wil probably say you are crazy, but the baby will be free and you will have a ball.

This year it looks like we won't be going because I'm due on Halloween. I just can't imagine making the drive and walking around at nine months, although I still haven't totally ruled out the possibility.
