I am going with my mom and my brother for my December trip! I was wondering when we go on the stationary gondola, would we have to sit with other people? Or would it be just us?

We're a family of 3 and have never been asked to sit with anyone else, nor have we seen any families asked to sit with other families.

I think it varies. I have gone solo and been in a gondola with a family of three. I have gone solo. I have gone with just my party. I'm not sure why it's worked out like this, there was always a line waiting.

It only depends on what the queues wait time is. When the queues for MFW is long, the CM will most likely tell all the guests that they will have to be with other groups in the gondola. Mostly in the morning when DCA opens, it was easy to get a gondola without another group of people. I go on the non-swinging gondola solo in the morning and had all the car to myself.

There are two line ups.One for swinging and one for non-swinging. Look for the signs as you enter.

When we were there in September they were announcing that groups of 3 or less would be put in with other small groups. We had 4 in our group so we didn't have to sit with anyone else.

Never been asked to sit with others and have gone more times than I can count. Love the ride both sides and MWoD is one of my favorites.

I am not a fan of heights AT ALL, and I found the stationary car managable. The cars are fully enclosed--there's a wire grating over the "windows" in the car. That made it doable for me. I didn't love it, but I didn't have a panic attack, either. ;-P

Actually, it's not nearly that bad. I was able to relax enough to quite enjoy the view from the top. it's pretty amazing. And the motion is very slow and smooth, so no worries there.

But, I would NEVER get in one of those swinging cars!

everytime we've been on we've never had to sit with anyone else. We usually have 3 people. most likely it will depend on the wait and how many people you have.. a long line and only two ppl might mean you are going to share...but i don't know for sure.

I'm afraid of heights too and let me tell you...I was not happy on that ride at all!! My kids all rode the swinging gondolas, DBF and I rode the stationary. I told him he could go with the kids (my 3 DD's and DSIL) but he rode with me it took them a lot longer in the swinging line than it would have taken if we'd all waited in the stationary line. Anyway, we let a bunch of people go ahead of us because we wanted to ride at the same, the CM did not ask us to ride with anyone else and it was just the two of us.

OP I'm sure a party of 3 would be fine, it's possible they might ask you to share but if you said no I'm sure they would respect that. I do know that one time we were waiting for the girls to ride it (I won't do it again, it freaks me out way too much) and they were announcing that they were asking groups of 2 or 3 to ride with others so it is possible they will do that but I've only heard that a few times.

I won't ride it again, I mean I'd do it for a million dollars but that's about it....LOL I did NOT like it at all and I'm OK with rides like ToT but the WoD was just too freaky.

MWoD is right! Yikes!! I tried a stationary and was so glad when it was over But I tried it...

We were not asked to sit with another group, but it was right after park opening and was a walk on at the time.

Wow, we have lived in SoCal since summer of 2008 so that's how long I have been riding MFW! Its mostly been just DH & I and once in a great while one of my DS'. We have never been asked to share. And would have no problem sharing at all. We have just never been asked.

Oh and we love the non swinging gondola! Its a great ride but kinda short! You get to see all over DL and DCA!

Swinging has the shorter lines.

The cabins fit 6.

Probably have to do 4 and 4, 6 is a very tight squeeze. And as stated and my experience the swinging are always shorter.
