Hey all! I have dd6 and a very active ds3. First time @ Disney- Should we go to Mickey's backyard barbeque or Hoop de doo? We're headed that way in October, I'm leaning towards Hoop de doo, but will the three year old find it entertaining? Thank you much!!!:flower3:

Both are great. Good food & fun. But HDDR wins this hands down in my opinion.

Love the Hoop, been there 3 times, but our DD and DS were older at the time. I have never been to the back yard BBQ so I can't compare the 2 which would be better for younger children expecially you ds3.

DD 6 has done HDDR three times, the BBQ once. She never wants to go back to the BBQ but has requested HDDR again for our next trip. We thought the BBQ was rather chaotic. She wanted to dance with the characters but there were just too many people on the dance floor for her to even get close enough to notice her. HDDR is much more relaxing, we just enjoy it more.

Thank you everyone! I think we will be doing Hoop de doo. Mickey's Backyard Barbeque does sound a little chaotic!!princess:

Beccar, please reconsider your choice of HDD over MBYBBQ. We have been to MBYBBQ every year for the last 6 years. My grandchildren love the unrestricted dancing with the characters and the idea of not having to wait in line to see Mickey and Minnie. Now I grant you, this is not for shy children, but if your children are not too shy and like the characters up close this can be a great experience for them. There are many adults out on the dance floor dancing with their children so it would not be a problem with your 3 yr. old as long as you are willing to get on the dance floor with them. If you grab a seat near the dance floor you can let your 6 yr. old go up and dance and still remain seated and watch her. It is very unstructured and you can come and go as you please. You do not have to remain in your seat and watch a show. Give it a try.:goodvibes

We took my 3yold to Hoop last year and she loved it! I have not been to BYBBQ, so I can't make a judgement on that one. I can just tell you that my dd3 loved Hoop last year. She was laughing and clapping the whole time. :)

We took my then 2 year old to BBQ and she LOVED it. I can't tell you how much fun we had. We had wonderful character interaction and the pictures of her dancing with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip & Dale are priceless. It was hot and yes, a bit chaotic at first, but really wasn't bad, especially after the first round of dancing. We're going back in July for a Mommy & Me dinner at the BBQ.

That being said, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I've heard great things about the Hoop. I'm considering it for our September trip, but I honestly just don't know if it is something my now 3 year old would want to sit though. She's more of an "active participant" so the BBQ works great for her! Plus, by the time we left, she was exhausted and went right to sleep, so bonus!
