Food is great. Show stinks...to much chaos to really enjoy it. We left early so I'm not sure exactly how long it lasts. Really isn't worth the money. Go do HDDR instead...that one is fun, fun, fun!

I have never been to HDDR and would love to go....but with a very active 2 1/2 year old I would rather wait another year! We always go to Chef Mickey's and I was trying to try something different...but with the character interaction! We will be at the cabins the first part of our stay so I thought the BBQ would be convenient!! What characters will be there?
We took our son, who at the time was 1, to HDDR and he clapped, laughed and danced along. It really is a great show!
Mickey's BBQ...one of the reasons we decided to try it was for character interaction...but really...with the crowd and chaos, you probably won't even get close to them. BTW...it's Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. I think that's it. I hope I didn't forget one.
We did it last fall. Food was good and they kept it out the entire time. They have all the kids sit down on the floor around the stage for one part of the show which was nice but the rest of the night it was a free for all. It really is utter chaos -- mobs of kids around characters. Mickey and Minnie also made their way around the tables. My dd4 loved it and spent a long time dancing with goofy. dd6 had a good time but not great. I forget how long it was but we stayed until the end -- crowd did thin out considerbly as time went on. I'd say it was worth it to do it once but wouldn't do it again. I wouldn't do it in the summer (too hot) and bring something to keep mosquitos away.
In our experience the food was horrible, it was not really out long enough for us to really eat. (We ended up going back to our cabin and cooking something.) At first we were really dissapointed, BUT....
the character interaction was not to be beat. We went in Sept. so the crowds were low. My kids (1 & 3 at the time) had the best time ever. It was 2 hours of uninterruped character time. They got to dance with the characters and had a blast. My DD (now 5) still asks to go there.
It was chaos, but being Sept it wasn't unbearable (unless you are talking about the heat LOL). We each took a kids and followed them around.
We loved it. My son (12) loved listening to the band and dancing. Him and I had a great time learning the dances. If you want one on one character interaction this is NOT the place, it's pretty much a free for all, but we were not there for the characters so it didn't bother us. A lot of the people who were there for the characters did a lot of pushing a shoving to get pictures. If I had little one's I would book a more traditional character meal.
The food was good and plenty of it.
We were there in July and it was crowded, if you are going in the off season it might be more manageable.
We just got back and Micky's BBQ was one of our favorites. I will do this again! Of course if you go and not participate then you are going to be bored, you have to participate to make if fun. One of the best nights for our family.
We went in June of last year. Food was good and plentiful. DD and SIL are not country fans but I enjoyed it. Grandsons enjoyed it except for almost 3yo. who Was cranky from the day at the park. Had to try it once so we would know. Probably will not go back as we are a family of 6 and was about $190.I think it may be more now. Go and have fun.
