I know there are many similar threads and I have read them...but I am not getting the comparison details I was hoping for...

What is the real differences b/t Hoop de do and Mickey's BBQ?
What are the down falls/neg. of BBQ in comparison?
Why is Hoop Dee Do that much better?

We go in May 2006 and I am having a real hard time deciding...We are a corny
family so we would love Hoop de Do, but my girls would lovew dancing with characters. The food sounds the same quality...Many reply HDDR and have not been to BBQ...I am on dining plan so we want value for 2 credits, but also, we want to come out with my silly outgoing girls 7 &3 yo to be able to feel happy and a memory made...

Help this new board member please
Blessings

OK, I have been to both HDDR and MBBQ. 3x to HDDR and 2x to MBBQ. I love both. They are on the same grounds (campground), HDDR is indoors and MBBQ is outside under a canopy, so it is fine no matter what the weather. You have specific seating for HDDR and at the MBBQ you can sit wherever you want (long picnic tables). The foo is good at both. Better at HDDR IMHO. They will also bring you other choices for the kids if you ask at HDDR. Both dinners have open bar with beer and wine. MBBQ has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and the Chipmonks. HDDR has a revue, but no characters. Excellent audience participation at both. My kids enjoy MBBQ more because they dance and run around all night with the characters, whereas at HDDR you have to stay in your seat the whole time. For little ones I think MBBQ is better, but it is a personal decision. Good luck.

Hoop de doo...is fun....but MBYBBQ is more fun especially for kids who look forward to interacting with characters....M&M, along with Chip & Dale, Goofy & Pluto not only go around the bbq at the tables, sign auto's in segments, but they also form a line dance with the audience...I was going to say the kids, but the whole audience is invited to join in...I'd go to MBYBBQ, but that's my opinion...

We went to MBYBbQ back in 2003 and had a blast. We danced all night long. We are going to the HDDR in Feb. for something different. If you go to MBYBBQ and stay late, keep in mind that the boats that take you back to MK stop running at 9 or 10. We had to take the buses back (about 4) and got soaked while transferring from bus to bus. We experienced a nice downpour that night. (We still had a blast!) It took us 45 minutes to get back to All Stars Movies.

I've been to both and they are totally different experiences. I love them both but the food at the BBQ was very, very poor (we made something in our cabin afterwards). The food at the HDDR has never failed us (and we've been there at least 6+ times), plus it is right next to the resturant which works out great if you have a picky eater.

I personally like HDDR better it's just so corney, my kids love it too. They don't really "get" it but they have fun none the less. But if you want interaction with the Characters the BBQ cannot be beat. My kids have never had so much fun in their lives. The BBQ is a very tiring night because you have to keep up with the kids (my youngest was only 1.5 when we took them). We went in Sept so there were not a lot of people, but it was still hard to keep up with them. I've heard during peak season it is an absolute zoo.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one.
