Is it possible for me to ask a question about my meal plan? Do you think I should use 2 table service credits for Mickey Backyard BBQ? I read that you should never use 2 table service for one meal, but if we do the Backyard BBQ it would cost us almost $350.00 for that one meal. I don't mind paying if that would be the best deal for us. My DH loves BBQ and I want to do at least one thing that he likes. I am just trying to get the best for my money.

We love the BBQ and we would most certainly uuse 2 credits for the meal if we were eating there. I would say it is definitely worth the 2 credits.

Half of $350 is $175. Are there any two other meals you would anticipate getting OVER $175 in value for? If yes, and you have those meals included as part of your trip then pay for the BBQ and use the credits elsewhere. But if you don't have two other meals in your schedule that meet that criteria then definitely use the 2 credits for BBQ. What you don't want is to have extra credits toward the end of your trip you are scrambling to use because you paid OOP for too many meals. What's best is to figure your overall meal plans, then use the credits where they benefit you most and pay OOP for those restaurants that in general are lower in cost.

It's hard sometimes to figure what's a good value for dining credits and what is not for your own family. Really depends on what meals you have already booked or will book since some places are less expensive for a meal than others. Some people say using credits at 2TS places is not an efficient use of credits, but it really depends on what you've included in your overall trip. It certainly does make sense for some families to use their credits this way.

Do you think I should use 2 table service credits for Mickey Backyard BBQ?

.
NOTE1: Tables are long picnic tables of about 40 people per table, so you sit with
others. No reserved seating, so the "mad dash" for seats can be interesting. There is
no "front row", just the end of the picnic tables. Folks start lining up about 1-hr prior
to the 5:30pm seating. Also, the characters are there for dancing and front interaction,
and usually do not go thru tables, so sometimes there is a long line trying to get to the
characters. Also noted the sides are open to the weather. They put up plastic diverters
for winter and simple fans for summer, but it does get VERY hot/humid or cold. This is
not a well heated or air conditioned pavilion. "Dancing" characters interact well with
kids in front of the stage, and younger kids love it.
.
NOTE2: Mickey BBQ was always about one-half the price of the Hoop Dee Do Review. With
the popularity of DDP, they jumped the price double, including 2-TS coupons. WITH NO
CHANGE IN MENUS; NO CHANGE IN CHARACTERS; NO CHANGES AT ALL. Cost was barely
justified at lower prices, and not worth the current price for ribs-chicken-burgers.
.
NOTE3: The characters "dance" in front of the stage, and children come up to dance with
them. This creates a lot of pushing by the kids as they try to get next to their favorite
character. There are no lines like in the park for Meet & Greet, and no handlers to keep
the kids in a line.

OP- check out the menu before you call this a BBQ. I think it is more like a picnic type of food. It is like a backyard picnic with the same kind of food that is offered at the HDDR, with hot dos and burgers and ice cream treats added.

Also, think about you family and their comfort level with characters. I took my DGD< thinking she wuld have a blast. No. SHe was a shy kid so by the time she worked up the courage to dance, it was kind of over. This was not for her. On the other hand, my friend asked about this for her boy...not an introvert in the bunch. I told her they would enjoy it and they did, times ten!

I agree with the above poster. If your children are shy this is not the best option. You MUST get up and go to the characters. They do not come to you. It is also very loud and chaotic in the pavilion. I took my SIL, DH and nephew who was a bit old for it but we had a good time. The food is picnic/BBQ in that they have ribs and bbq chicken.
I personally would not go again. I paid OP which is fine but there are way better dining experiences worth 2 table credits in my opinion.
I personally liked the food and character interaction much better at the Garden Grill in Epcot at a much lower cost.

We love it too. We go every other. Remember that reviews are subjective. Make up your own mind and enjoy!

When my children were younger, we did the backyard barbecue. It was fun for them and I enjoyed them having a good time. The food was okay but I wouldn't say it was a full blown barbecue. Have you ever gone to the Hoop Dee Doo? For the money (or table service credits which we always use for it), we prefer it over the barbecue. But to answer if you should use 2 table service credits, I would and pay out of pocket for a less expensive meal.

Is it just you and DH? In that case, I would skip it. We loooooove the BBQ in our family, but that's because it's a great experience for my kids (now ages 4 and 7). Even at 7 years old, DS is about to out grow it, I think. The food is mediocre - definitely don't go expecting good BBQ food.
If what you want is BBQ food at Fort Wilderness, your better option would be paying OOP for Trails End
